Wow!!! What a day. For only being a 5 to 6 hour day, a lot was seen and done.

The Arko family..... Chris, Diana, Allegra, Miles, and the grandparents Stan and Marilys came out for an absolutely perfect day on the Gulf.

Sea turtles, dolphins, lane snapper, yellowtail, red groupers, triggerfish, and the big boys themselves......3 WHALE SHARKS. Flat calm seas in the morning. Just a perfect day offshore.

Mike, Denise, Jon, and Susan came out for a shelling and sandbar day. We were treated to jumping stingrays, dolphin show right off the bat, beautiful weather, and great friends.

Cayo Costa and stump pass were the destinations today. What a great day....

Jeanne and Aaron came out for some fishing and some sandbar time. We caught tons of fish, but most were just shy of keeper size today. We probably released 50 red groupers that were not big enough.... maybe more. We also got an ARS but it also had to go back since season is not open yet.

Going to give everyone a great, easy to make, blackened recipe for your fish.

Step 1. Get some of this seasoning. Just the plain seafood magic... not the other one they make.

Step 2. Get your non stick Pan medium heat. Melt some butter... pat dry the fillet... drizzle butter on 1 side of fillet, keeping some butter or nonstick cooking spray on pan. Then douse that side with this seasoning. Place that coated side face down in pan. Cook 3 to 3.5 min. While cooking on the seasoned side, butter other side. Flip when halfway thru is white. 3.5 min on other side and done when it's white all thru and flakes easy with fork. Enjoy.

You can cook your fish faster than you can make your sides... so plan accordingly.

What a great day offshore. 2 man limit of red grouper...nice pile of lane snappers. Lots of sea turtles out and about. 7 foot shark ate my fish as I was untangling a line. And this bird... landed on the ttop 42 miles out. Poor thing was thirsty. It drank and drank. Then I held it all the way back to the dock. Not bad for a last minute trip.

Tarpon... sea turtles, big rays.... shark.... and of course dolphins galore. Great 4 hour trip today.

Repeat clients came back out to go catch some fish on a shorter trip. Went to find yellowtails, but probably should've been deeper. Jenn did manage to hook this shark perfectly in corner of the mouth on a tiny jig.... how it stayed on I really don't know. But she did well getting it in.

Then we came back in to try trolling for kings but the seaweed was relentless and made that hard.

Great day though and stories to tell about that shark.
