Mermaid Cove has been descended upon by a rare species of birds called “Snowbirds”.
They flock south for the winter months seeking warmer temps and sunshine.
They are particularly drawn to the coastal areas where they swim and hunt for seafood- which is the main staple of their diet as well as citrus such as oranges and grapefruit.
They have also been observed doing dance-like movements to music!
It seems they try and blend in with local birds but standout because of their covering of bright colors.
It’s a very interesting species to observe!!!
