Highly pathogenic avian influenza virus is suspected to have caused the death of 300 Canada geese found at Pymatuning Reservoir in Crawford County.

In response, the Game Commission collected, tested, and disposed of dead geese. However, thin ice and open water conditions have prevented the recovery of all birds.

The public is encouraged to report other sick or dead wild birds can report them to the Pennsylvania Game Commission at 1-833-PGC-WILD.

Any sick or dead domestic birds should be reported to Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture at 717-772-2852.

Any human health concerns should be communicated to your primary care physician or the Department of Health at 877-PA-HEALTH.

Some of you I have invited to the page and please invite others! The purpose of this post is to spread awareness of what is happening to the hunter access on the Vischer Ferry Nature Preserve. The long of the short is local officials have recently banned the right to carry fi****ms on public land, navigable water, and parking lots to name a few. We need your help to spread the awareness of what is happening because this isn’t only happening here! Hunter access is being compromised across the country and it’s our duty to protect it! Please share
