Highly pathogenic avian influenza virus is suspected to have caused the death of 300 Canada geese found at Pymatuning Reservoir in Crawford County.
In response, the Game Commission collected, tested, and disposed of dead geese. However, thin ice and open water conditions have prevented the recovery of all birds.
The public is encouraged to report other sick or dead wild birds can report them to the Pennsylvania Game Commission at 1-833-PGC-WILD.
Any sick or dead domestic birds should be reported to Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture at 717-772-2852.
