After all my travels through Germany, I had never been through Erfurt. On the way back to Frankfurt from Halle, we stopped off and were really impressed with the capital of Thüringen! Included are pictures of the Krämerbrücke, a historic bridge with shops and apartments lining the sides, the only time I've seen such a structure in all of my travels. Oh, and hand-carved graffiti from the 1400s in the cathedral is something you don't see everyday!

Just got back from Germany and had to make a Limburg/Marburg appreciation post while I wait in the customs line. Both cities were beautiful and retained much of their historic beauty. Apartment where we stayed in Marburg didn't have an elevator, because of historic building laws, but it was right in the heart of the old city so I'll take a little walk for an amazing view!

Sigmarigen is a small town with a castle of the same name belonging to the Hohenzollern family, which used to rule most of Germany before World War 1. The castle is simply immense, and although a fire destroyed part of it, it was rebuilt to its previous glory. Unlike other many other royal residences, which are separated from the commoners, the town laying at its doorstep is charming and has a very nice park and a river walk, which provides amazing angles of the castle above!
