Congratulations to former guest artist Karel Cruz on a stellar career. 👏🏻

Principal dancer Karel Cruz announced his retirement from PNB today.

“I have gotten to dance such beautiful ballets I never dreamt I would do growing up in Cuba. I am incredibly grateful and fulfilled with my career at PNB and have appreciated the love and support from our organization, the dancers, our audience, and especially my wife, who has been here with me every moment.”

We are please to announce that Joseph Hetzer will be dancing the roles of Soldier Doll and Russian. Joseph is a junior at the University of Southern California’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance, where he trains with William Forsythe, Jodie Gates, and other distinguished faculty. Here he has had opportunities to perform alongside the Martha Graham Dance Company, Hubbard Street, and Complexions Contemporary Ballet. He started his training at South Bay Ballet under the direction of Diane Lauridsen and has also trained at prestigious ballet schools across the country, including Jacob’s Pillow. He was a recipient of the Petite Oasis Scholarship for male dancers from 2013- 2015 and was an honors student at the Regional Dance America festival. He has performed at a number of venues around Los Angeles and continues to train and work before he graduates in 2019. Come see Joseph, a cast of 200 dancers and the Civic Youth Orchestra this TODAY and TOMORROW at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. http://www.sandiegonutcracker.com
