We have been watching with broken hearts the devastation that has happened in Nepal. This is a place we hold near and dear since it’s one of our favorite destinations. This is due in part because we get a unique glimpse into the lives of our guides and the communities they are from and organization they support by visiting the hostel and school owned and managed by Friends of Himalayan Children.

FHC is a humanitarian organization that is working to stop child labor and slavery. Children are far more vulnerable after natural disasters like what just happened. FHC offers a place for them to live, education, quality food and of course the support of an entire volunteer team of very passionate people.

They are currently accepting donations to help the families and children that have been affected by the recent floods.

You can donate directly through the link below. Also, for the next week, $100 from every trip booked will be donated to Friends of Himalayan Children, $200 from each spot on our Annapurna Basecamp Trek.

We’ll be honest with you, our dear community: this was a tough week! Seeing the devastation of the tragedy in Nepal also reminds us of all similar events happening all over our beautiful planet. It also strengthens the notion that we must come together to help those affected, no matter how far they are from us.

Once again we are grateful to our community of ladies who keep going, who don’t cancel pre planned events and who show up with a smile even when their hearts are suffering due to global or personal hardships.

This is a reminder that we need to take care of our planet if we want to enjoy its beautiful places. We also need to hold people in leadership accountable for the choices that make huge impact in our futures. It’s each of us, together, making a difference 🫶
