It really doesn't get any better than this. Sunshine, pristine beaches, prolific wildlife, and most importantly a complete absence of SNOW. Most people picture
the Everglades as just a giant "swamp," but does this look like a swamp to you?

In my mind, I just see a Paradise free from traffic, day to day stress and the bitter, depressing, cold that afflicts my friends to the north.

This is the best office I could ever ask for.

Floridians busted out their "winter" gear this last week while we dealt with a historic cold front that came down from the north for a visit. While the iguanas started dropping from trees, I had to put on long pants AND a sweatshirt to keep warm! I can't help but imagine how the midwesterners and those on the east coast are holding up.

February was always the hardest part of winter when i lived in the northern climate. Right in the middle when the end seems so far away... the days are short and the creeping cold seems inescapable. Its the perfect time for a quick escape to the sunshine, and put a pause on those midwinter blues.

February and early March are some of the best times to paddle in the Everglades. Cooler temps and the lack of biting insects really make a camping trip enjoyable.

I've got a few spots open on a 3 day 2 night trip February 21st-23rd, as well as some open availability in the month of March. Normally id be open all through April as well, but this year i may cut and run early for a solo adventure opportunity.

5 days of exploring the wilderness of the Everglades mangrove estuary this past week. With the cooler temps we were greeted with fewer insects and plentiful wildlife encounters. I'm normally better at catching photos but this trip was too much fun. I found myself existing in the moment and just... taking it all in rather than recording. Close encounters with manatees, dolphins, alligators, sharks, a Goliath grouper, and too many beautiful birds to count made for a memorable trip.

Tourism is a bit slower this year down south, so the rest of the winter has a lot of open availability. I hear the snow continues to pile up on my northern friends, so if anyone is looking for an adventurous reprieve from the winter blues, the Everglades always provide the perfect escape!

This is PEAK winter weather in the Everglades. Absolutely gorgeous every day on the last trip. Lows dipped down to the 50s at night, making for chilly mornings, but the days have been beyond perfect paddling weather, and the best part? Almost no bugs to be seen!

As much as I respect the snow sports, I'll take these views over living in the cold any day!

If you're looking for a sunny reprieve from the winter blues, this is the way to go.
