Episode 1
As we left Maniwaki Quebec, Bill received a phone call from Natalie St. Louis. "please come help me find my father. I know he's in the water."
We were 25 minutes away from Laval. Quebec.
"Natalie, I will be there in 25 minutes and we will search for your father tonight". Bill McIntosh states. ... That's how it started.
Natalie wanted us to search the eastern bank all the way up to the apartment complex off of 17th street all the way up the road she thought that her dad was on that side of the river. After looking at depth charts and searching the eastern bank Bill McIntosh and Down-under Dan learn that there is a drop off that goes from 3 feet to 78 feet in front of the boat ramp across from Robert St. Louis home.
Within seconds, the team went from frustration because they couldn't find the depth that could hold the 1988 Jeep Cherokee Chief to anticipation because they knew that he had to be there. That was the spot. Within minutes, vehicles started popping up on the sonar system, but one in particular with square pillars on the back side of the vehicle sat upside down under a truck bed looked to be the age and have the shape of a Cherokee chief Jeep Wagoneer. (In 1986 Bill McIntosh's mother had the same vehicle and Bill recognized the shape of the pillars of the back tailgate very clearly on sonar)
As Dan positioned the boat over the two vehicles on live system Bill dropped the magnet on a rusty 1980 Jeep Cherokee Cheif that was missing for 37 years with Robert St. Louis, resting inside the cab of the vehicle.
In this episode, there is drama because Bill doesn't want to miss anything. Bill always try's to be hypervigilant, and hyperfocused knowing that the stakes are high, because he knows that Robert is somewhere here in the Eel River in Quest Laval.. why .. Because his daughter Natalie knows he is there..
The team had missed Dale Nicholson and Robert Cavanaugh the first time they searched Bill didn't want to miss Robert St. Louis.
In this three part series the team fights through exhaustion on day 26 of the trip to bring home Robert St. Louis for the St. Louis family after 37 years of not knowing where their father had gone on Father's Day in 1988.
It's a team effort, Kade, Dan, Bill and Robin , the Quebec dive team, the police, the tow truck drivers all work for three days to remove Roberts remains, and many of the vehicles from the boat ramp.
Between 9 and 14 vehicles are out there in the water lurking beneath the surface in depths between 33 and 78 feet but one is the number one focus. We wanted to bring Robert St. Louis home and that's what we did.
This is a story of persistence collaboration, heart, love, healing, and never giving up.
