If rest only happens after the launch, deadline, trip, or next big thing, the problem may be the way life is structured. This reflection explores burnout, urgency, sustainable work, and what changes when rest becomes part of the plan instead of a reward for surviving it.
Stop earning rest. Start building around it.

Summer doesn’t get all my PTO. ✨

Fall and winter travel can mean fewer crowds, better value, comfortable sightseeing weather, and experiences summer travelers completely miss.

The goal isn’t always finding the cheapest trip.

It’s asking: How much experience can I get from the money I’m already comfortable spending?
Maybe your next trip is a fall city break.
Maybe it’s somewhere tropical in January.
Maybe it’s food, culture, quiet, adventure—or just a few days somewhere different.

Choose the trip based on how you want to feel, not just when everybody else travels.

Five tabs open. Four options compared. Nothing actually decided.

At some point, being “thorough” can quietly turn into refusing to move until everything is perfect.

I realized I was doing it everywhere.

With the systems I was building.
With the trips I wanted to take.
With ideas that could have already been out in the world.

Eventually, I booked the flight before the itinerary was finished. I shipped the system before every possible improvement had been made.

And that’s the lesson I’m carrying with me:

Ready is a decision, not a feeling.

You can trust yourself enough to start before you know every step.

So what have you been overbuilding when you could just begin?
