We had an awesome time today at our Museum Explorers program, which was all about parades as part of Hispanic Heritage Month! 🎉🥁🎊

We learned about what a parade is, saw photos of Bolivian dancers in the Fairfax July 4th parade, made flores de papel 🌸, decorated maracas 🎨, had a parade through the museum 🥁🎶, and read Pepe and the Parade! 📖

There are two more Museum Explorers programs coming up on November 5th and 19th! 🗓️ You can find the link to register for our programs in the comments.

Hope to see you there!

Notice of Temporary Closure: Blenheim Interpretive Site

The Blenheim Interpretive Site will be closed on Wednesday, October 14th for the planned removal of a large oak tree located near the historic home.

City staff has provided preventative care for many years to extend the tree’s life. Unfortunately, the oak has reached the end of its natural lifespan. Falling branches—or even a full collapse—now pose a safety risk to visitors, the historic house, and the irreplaceable artifacts inside.

Once the tree is safely removed, the stump will be ground down and overplanted with grass to restore the lawn. A new northern red oak will be planted nearby to continue the tradition of stewarding our landscape for future generations. 🌳

Thank you for your understanding as we work to protect both our community and this important historic site.

We had an amazing time at our first museum explorers program of the season! We learned about drums from the past, played on a drum, drummed to a beat with tambourines, made our own drums and read a story about drums.

There are still 4 spots available for our October 22 Museum Explorers program, sign up now using the link in our bio.
