Continuing to share highlights of my trip to Sri Lanka...
The Cuisine
Sri Lankan cuisine is a feast for the senses—vibrant, aromatic, and deeply rooted in tradition. Dishes burst with delicious spices, creamy coconut milk, and garden-fresh herbs, offering a delicious blend of sweet and savory. Every bite tells a story of the island’s rich cultural tapestry. And, the fruit — juicy mangoes, sweet papayas, vibrant guava, passion fruit, and refreshing coconuts are found in abundance. Influenced by Indian, Dutch, and Malay flavors, yet uniquely its own, Sri Lankan food is vibrant, fresh, and unforgettable.
It was the Hill Country that truly captured my heart. Rolling emerald hills carpeted with tea bushes created a landscape so lush and peaceful, it felt like stepping into a dream. Walking through the plantations and learning about the intricate process of growing, picking, and processing Ceylon tea gave me a new appreciation for something so simple and yet so significant.
I am back from an unforgettable two-week familiarization trip to Sri Lanka and the Maldives! It was a journey filled with breathtaking moments, rich culture, and inspiring discoveries.

Exploring Sri Lanka’s lush tea plantations was a fascinating experience!
The skilled tea pluckers hand-pick each delicate leaf—just as it’s been done for generations. 🌱✨
From here, the freshly picked leaves are weighed and sent to the local factory, where they undergo a meticulous process to transform into the rich, aromatic teas we love. Once ready, the teas make their way to Colombo, where an exciting auction determines which major tea companies will bring these flavors to the world.
Sri Lanka’s tea industry is a true blend of heritage, craftsmanship, and passion—every sip tells a story. 💚

5 Exciting New Hotel Openings of 2025...
