The global cruise industry has kicked off 2026 with 74 new vessels on order. These ships, with a combined investment of more than $76.5 billion, will add roughly 205,000 berths to the worldwide fleet through 2036.
Two of the largest names in cruising, MSC Cruises and Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, share the largest share of newbuilds, with 14 ships each on order. For MSC Cruises, the orderbook includes an ambitious mix of World-class and new Frontier-class vessels.
Norwegian’s 14 new ships span multiple classes. The brand’s pipeline includes Prima-Plus-class vessels entering service in the late 2020s, as well as a new series of ultra-large ships with approximately 5,100 passenger capacity, beginning in 2030.
The Royal Caribbean Group is also making a major contribution with eight ships on order spread across Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, and TUI Cruises. This builds on the group’s existing track record of large-class vessels, including Icon-class and Oasis-class designs that mix innovative amenities with high guest capacity.
