Captain Matt was born and raised in Fairhope Alabama where he spent the majority of his life fishing and enjoying the outdoors that the gulf coast has to provide. Here at Capt. longbeards is not only to put you on fish but it is to provide experiences and memories that you will be able to have for the rest of your life. We have been enjoying some beautiful weather this past week. But between the past couple of weeks weather and a bunch of work in the shop we have not been doing to many trips. Last week we were able to break away for a fun near shore trip with a good buddy and my wife. This weekend weather finally allowed me to complete a trip that had to be rescheduled a couple of times because of weather. I had been looking forward to this trip not only bc the clients were so awesome but bc they bid on my charter trip to help veterans in the outdoors through honor tribe outdoors. I am looking forward to some future cast and blast trips with these clients in the near future.

We have been having such a fun, busy, extremely hot summer. Have been slack on posting but today’s trip was a funny one....

We have been having such a fun, busy, extremely hot summer. Have been slack on posting but today’s trip was a funny one. Starting off trout fishing. Catching small ones, losing big ones at the boat and then watching the trout blowing up on bait wondering why we couldn’t catch them. Switched gears and went for just a fun bite of mangroves ending with 3 keepers. Then the crazy part with some puppy drum and with a really nice 30inch bull red that I could have sworn was going to break my rod dragging me under the boat. Worked our way back to the boat launch looking for triple tail to finish the day to find a decent 20 incher(clients first triple tail) to not only break off and have a hook broke(will admit it was captain error) to finally catch and land a tagged fish for his first ever triple tail all while the rod broke and had to eventually handline it in we got it. Some days you just got to work for them a little harder.

When plan 1 spits the hook, plan 2 breaks you off(captains fault on that one), but plan 3 works out. We have been having some great trips lately. Today is one of those days where it was just fun watching the day unfold into a rememberable experience for every one especially my new buddy Nash.

Started the week off with a really fun client. I love having a client that is pumped about every catch and then sending pictures of his cooking with his catch. We are taking the rest of the week off to spend it pre fishing with Mrs. Longbeard and getting ready for the Ben dunnam tournament. Going to be fun tournament and going to be learning a lot of new water.

Fun day with some repeat customers. Fish were every where today. They going to have a good fish fry tonight.

Last week was a fun week. Trips almost every day with a lot of fishing. Had a couple of struggle days but a lot of good fishing over all. Got to spend sometime with some great people that came in town for the opti us trials. What a fun event and very cool to see all the young sailors compete so hard. Like always limited on pictures as I was busy baiting hooks, tying lines and putting fish in the box.

I am sorry I have been slacked on posting trips but want to thank all my clients for all the business lately and look forward to all the up coming trips the next coming days, weeks, and months.
