I have Down syndrome, but that doesn't define me. I am a daughter, a sister, an aunt, a godmother, a farmer, an artist, a Breakfast Hostess at the Fairmont Hampton Inn (Minnesota), an inspirational speaker, entrepreneur and more! I started Sunshine Suzy in 2015. I started my business because I am on a mission to spread love and show that every person has great value and a bigger purpose. We all ha

ve different abilities. We all have a special place in this world. This is my mission: Nourish the Soul. I package and sell my own Sunshine Suzy brand of Super Crunchy Corn Nibblets. I am also an inspirational speaker and am available to speak at corporate events, schools, service organizations and more. In my presentation, I tell my story of self-determination, offer career advice, describe my experience as a Breakfast Hostess at the Fairmont Hampton Inn (Minn.), and describe my journey developing the Sunshine Suzy brand.

Suzy's influence has reached audiences across the country and around the world.

She was recently a featured keynote speaker at the University of Houston, the Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, a Self-Determination Conference in Michigan, a National Education Conference in Omaha, and many more.

Her words have touched countless hearts but her accomplishments go far beyond the stage.

She has influenced educators in the southeast Asian country of Bhutan to create opportunities for people of all abilities. Her products have reached as far as Taiwan and Australia. Even Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota, brings her products on international trade trips to promote Minnesota and American agriculture.

She is a fifth generation farmer, a philanthropist, an award-winning breakfast hostess, a speaker, entrepreneur, and above all, an advocate for the value and purpose in every person. Born with Down syndrome, she refuses to let it define her and instead champions the belief that we all have unique abilities and a special place in the world.

It is her mission to inspire those around her to see beyond limits and embrace their greater purpose.

Sunshine Suzy brought her powerful message to Best Buy's global headquarters in celebration of World Down Syndrome Day! Suzy’s story was shared live from HQ in Richfield, Minnesota, and broadcast to hundreds of employees.

Suzy enjoyed connecting with so many Best Buy team members—many of whom have loved ones with disabilities—and inspire them with the possibilities of a bright, fulfilling life.

Suzy even got a behind-the-scenes tour of Best Buy's campus and received thoughtful gifts including handmade friendship bracelets with her mission statement!

A huge shoutout to Sara Wright for making it all happen! In addition to her marketing role, Sara is a dedicated leader of Best Buy’s DisABILITIES Employee Resource Group promoting awareness, creating space for connection, advocacy, and growth. 💙💛

Sunshine Suzy had a wonderful time as a special guest at The Arc Minnesota’s 75th Anniversary Gala! Suzy was honored to have her employment story featured during the video presentation (shout out to Suzy’s amazing team at the Hampton Inn in Fairmont, Minnesota!!). Suzy was excited to meet Miss Minnesota and Miss Teen Minnesota, donated her corn nibblets for the silent auction, and had a blast getting dressed up to celebrate with her mom and sister.

The Arc promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, actively supporting them and their families in a lifetime of full inclusion.

The 2025 Gala shined a spotlight on a key issue for people with disabilities: employment.
Despite their talents and capabilities, people with disabilities often encounter barriers to meaningful employment. The Arc Minnesota is dedicated to breaking down these barriers through programs that connect individuals with supportive job opportunities, by providing employer education, facilitating conversations around workplace accommodations, and more.

Thank you to The Arc for your incredible support of Suzy and countless others these past 75 years! Cheers to many more!!!

Suzy and her date, Triston, had a wonderful time at the Tim Tebow Foundation’s 10th Annual Night to Shine event this past Friday! They walked the red carpet, were cheered on by a crowd, and even enjoyed a short limo ride!

The Tim Tebow Foundation created Night to Shine to celebrate people with special needs and give them dignity.

Everyone at Night to Shine is crowned as a King or Queen because it symbolizes the core idea of the event: to make each person with special needs feel like royalty, valued, and loved by God, signifying that they are seen as precious and important just as they are.

The event has taken place in over 1,000 cities and 56 countries, impacting more than 555,000 guests. Suzy and Triston attended the event at CrossWinds Church - Spirit Lake, Iowa.

A huge thank you to the many volunteers and the Foundation for organizing such a wonderful evening!

Did you know Sunshine Suzy has been a professional speaker for 13 years?!

Suzy is a true professional and has been traveling across the the country giving keynote presentations at conferences and events. Just last year she spoke at the University of Houston, Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development, a Self-Determination Conference in Michigan, a National Education Conference in Omaha, and most recently was the featured speaker at Greystone Construction Company's annual celebration at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel.
