This isn't a hike. It's not exercise. It's shinrin-yoku — the Japanese practice of forest bathing — and it might be exactly what your nervous system has been craving.

Trees release compounds called phytoncides that boost your immune system, lower cortisol, and quiet the mental chatter. A single day in the forest can elevate immune function for up to a month.

We designed our properties in Fairview with this in mind — 1.5 wooded acres of mountain-laurel forest, private sauna sessions, and hot tubs under the stars.

Some places feel like they grew out of the ground.

Canopy House is our treehouse-inspired retreat in Fairview — perched in the canopy with an outdoor cedar soaking tub, floor-to-ceiling windows, and the kind of silence that makes you realize how loud everything else has been.

The deck wraps around old-growth hardwoods. The tub sits right at canopy level, so when the mist rolls through in the morning, you're soaking inside a cloud.

This isn't a cabin. It's an immersion.

"I've traveled all over and this is in my top 3 experiences. The cedar tub in the trees, the craftsmanship of the space, the total privacy — it's not like anything else in Asheville." — 5-star review

Canopy House sleeps two. Private entrance, private tub, private forest.

Meet the Solarium.

Dark City Solarium is our Black Mountain property — a few minutes' drive from one of the most charming small towns in the Blue Ridge.

It's a different energy from our Fairview retreats. More intimate. More modern. A cedar hot tub on the deck, bi-fold glass doors that blur the line between inside and out, and a kitchen bar that catches the morning light just right.

Black Mountain is the kind of town where the barista knows your name by your second visit. Where the Swannanoa River runs right through the middle of everything. Where you can hike Lookout Trail in the morning and be soaking under the stars by evening.

"The Solarium was everything. The hot tub, the design, the quiet. We're already planning our next trip." — Guest review

We built this space for people who want the mountains without the noise. Forest bathing with a design-forward edge.

April in Asheville hits different.

The rhododendrons are waking up along the Blue Ridge Parkway. The French Broad is running high. Downtown is buzzing with gallery walks, live music on every corner, and the kind of mountain air that makes you wonder why you ever lived anywhere else.

And after a day of exploring — the breweries, the Biltmore gardens in full bloom, the drum circles at Pritchard Park — there's a place where the forest takes over.

Asheville Forest Baths sits on a wooded ridge in Fairview, fifteen minutes from downtown. Three private properties, each tucked into the canopy with its own character:

🏡 The Bathhouse — wood-fired sauna, cedar plunge, creek-side soaking
🌿 Rosewood Cottage — marble soaking tub, vintage charm, mountain views
🌲 Canopy House — treehouse vibes, outdoor cedar tub, total immersion

Spring availability is filling fast. The forest is ready when you are.

Heat. Cool. Rest. Repeat.

That's the rhythm. Four words that have anchored bathing cultures from Finland to Japan for thousands of years. At Asheville Forest Baths, we built everything around it.

Here's how the ritual works:

🔥 HEAT — Our wood-fired sauna runs between 170-190°F. The heat opens your pores, loosens your muscles, and quiets your mind. Stay 10-15 minutes.

❄️ COOL — Step into the cedar cold plunge. The contrast sends blood rushing back to your core. It's a full-body reset. Thirty seconds is plenty.

🍃 REST — This is the part most people skip everywhere else. Wrap in a robe. Sit on the deck. Listen to the creek. Let your nervous system catch up.

🔄 REPEAT — Three rounds is traditional. By the third, you'll understand why entire cultures were built around this.

The Finns call it "löyly" — the spirit of the steam. We just call it Tuesday.

There's a place tucked into the Appalachian canopy where the trees do most of the talking.

Asheville Forest Baths was born from a simple idea: what if rest wasn't something you had to earn?

Our Bathhouse is a hand-built sanctuary — wood-fired sauna, cedar cold plunge, and a soaking tub that sits beneath a canopy so thick the rain takes its time reaching you.

Guests tell us they arrive tired and leave different. Not fixed. Just... quieter.

"We didn't want to leave. The sauna, the sounds, the smell of cedar — it felt like the forest was holding us." — Recent guest

This is forest bathing, Appalachian style. No agenda. No rush. Just heat, cool, rest, repeat.
