Awesome but longer than usual day with new friends. Fish were picky and just nibbling at our gear, but we ground it out until the final bite. The lake showed her teeth, and then calmed down and we were there for the whole show. Our days are limited friends.

Family day most of the day today, but here’s a quick update from Saturday.

What a lake!!
It was calm as a cucumber out there most of the day, we could cover some ground in a hurry out there. What an amazing sunrise, fantastic fishing and an amazing day overall.

Trip number one was an early one with a 5:30 am departure. We were able to get a limit pretty quick from the crew and thank goodness for that because the calm lake and heat acted like a bug factory out there. So much so that when we rocketed out of there we had to cover up to avoid eating bugs. They had a great bite and a solid grade of fish. It’s hard to imagine it getting better than this!

Trip 2 started as a live scope jigging trip on a glass calm (and smoking hot) lake. The jigging bite is tough in super deep water… after about an hour of that with limited success we started the power drift and within 5 minutes we had two more fish in the box. We kept up that pace until we closed out the limits and then rode the glitterrocket home for the day.

Great times on an amazing lake. Thank goodness we had a break from the wind. Let’s see what this week holds!

Ran out of time for full stories, but the last two days have been amazing. Great to see you all! Back at it tomorrow 🎣🎣

Holy smokes what a morning!
This morning, I was joined by longtime guests for a repeat appearance. A couple of these fellas have been with me since the very beginning - one of the first few trips I had out - so it was my pleasure to take them out on an almost glass calm lake into some of the best fishing I’ve ever seen.
The lake did not disappoint! We pointed the glitter rig north and made quick work of the drive out. The setup was quick. We had a slightly south wind so we set up a little shower than we wanted to finish in the 60s mostly slow rolling with the harnesses was still the plan and that is how it worked out. We made our way through the first trench in the 70s, the fishing was fantastic and we had 24 on ice in no time at all. Yacht rock pumping through the sound system of the , and the old Walleye conveyor belt was just doing its thing. As fast as we could make it happen, we did make it happen. It’s not often we have a lake this calm and a day this beautiful so it was really a blessing to see a pleasurable day with old friends can’t be beat. Hopefully this weather holds through the weekend and we have a great few days ahead of us. Good luck out there.

There are still some available dates in August, but it’s going to wind down quickly.

Saaaa-tur-daaaaaay on the lake it was 25th of July.
OK, some of you might not get that song reference but either way… We started with a 5:30 AM launch to avoid all the tournament shenanigans and returned to some familiar water mentioned in a previous post and the fish catching thing. Our bite was pretty steady throughout the morning and the lake continued to calm throughout the morning. It was great catching up with these guys that have made a tradition to join me on my birthday weekend. I never feel old until I see some of these kids that have been with me for a few years growing up. We shared stories of ribeye in the sky and hunts from past years. It was a great time to catch up. And we were able to load the boat in no time.

After that, I was the lucky recipient of an unexpected trip. Unfortunately, their previous Captain had some boat issues so they came my way and we snuck out for an afternoon. These new friends had a fantastic time and also great fishing. The lake was even calmer and it really worked out perfectly for everyone involved. On top of that, I gained a new birthday buddy. I mean what are the chances that we share the same birthday? Great times!

Day two of operation WV fish fry took place this morning. The lake was amazing, the parking situation at walnut was slightly less amazing 🎣😀
A calmer lake gave us some flexibility so we pushed west, yes there are still fish there too. 🧐

55-74 fow was the mission. The slow rolling worm demolition spread did the work, thanks to Colorado blades from Mike's Walleye Rigs.
We really had a blast the last couple days. The trash talk was strong with these fellas. The fun was had and the fish fry has officially been supplied.
Back at it tomorrow 💪🏻💪🏻🎣🎣

All that trap team travel for princess is in the books for a year, and it’s time to get back to the fish!!
Double day yesterday in the books, had a later start at 9am and with some bumps from the north, we took our time getting there and I’m glad we pushed a little further than expected.

We were met with a great bite and a fish stacking good time. One perch and a nice pile of walleye hit the net in only a couple of hours. Their fillets were headed south, while I was gearing up to go back north.

Second crew had a calmer lake, and a slower start until the bite fired up for them. It wasn’t long and we were in meat sneaking mode again.

Man, the weather lately has been a real pain, but we’ll be out the next couple of days again. 🎣🎣
