to the behemoth build of the Cypress Mansion! Perched 17 feet above ground, this masterpiece is supported by 12 majestic cypress trees and 14 robust posts. Our Treehouse Masters-approved Heavy Limb Hardware, including 14 burly HL TABs (treehouse attachment bolts), custom fabricated hardware and a touch of engineering wizardry made this towering dream a reality.
🔨 For our fellow carpenter geeks, here are some fun facts:
🌲The biggest beam measures 5-1/2”x24”
🌲There's a whopping 40 feet between each post
🌲The longest run of inline beams spans 94 feet, supported by 3 posts and 2 trees
🌲A grand total of 588 lineal feet of beams supports this architectural marvel

Thank you for visiting our page! We are the Nelson family, comprised of me (Pete); my wife (of 30 years!), Judy; and our adult kids, Emily, Henry, and Charlie. We work together, along with our extraordinary staff, to bring the magic of treehouses to folks around the world.
I first fell in love with treehouses at age five when my dad built me an adventurous treefort behind the garage at our home in New Jersey. The world of treehouses, carpentry, and design continued to captivate me through college in Colorado where I met my wonderful wife, Judy.
Armed with an economics degree, Judy’s support, and my love of all things treehouse, I embarked on a unique, tree-centric career path in the Pacific Northwest post-graduation. For several years, I worked in construction of regular “ground houses” before taking to the trees to build imaginative and inspiring treehouses. With my design/build firm, Nelson Treehouse and Supply, I've now built hundreds of treehouses around the world.
In 2006, Judy and I opened our overnight treehouse retreat center, TreeHouse Point, to celebrate the grandeur of the Pacific Northwest with visitors from around the world. With my designs, Judy's culinary prowess, and the vision of our marvelous staff, TreeHouse Point evolved into a place of peace, romance, and rejuvenation.
In 2012, we embarked on a new adventure: our Animal Planet television series, Treehouse Masters, which follows my crew and me around on our treehouse builds across the country. It's been a real privilege to connect with folks from around the world because of our show—I'm so grateful to all our fans for tuning in!
We recently opened our second treehouse retreat: Treehouse Utopia in Texas Hill Country. We partnered with restaurateur Laurel Waters to build four luxury treehouses along the emerald green Sabinal River—this retreat is built for couples and solo stays. We look forward to making you feel at home in our trees!
Judy and I are thrilled that our kids are involved in our family business. Our son Henry is a skilled carpenter who often travels with the rest of the crew on builds. His twin brother, Charlie, builds boats and guitars and is tending to our Woodinville property as it crystalizes into Treehouse Resort and Spa.
Our daughter, Emily, is at the helm of our treehouse HQ. In addition to overseeing project operations, Emily founded our online store, Be in a Tree, where you can purchase our treehouse plans, lifestyle goods, and the same specialized hardware we use in our builds worldwide. The family business also brought Emily her husband, Patrick—he's a lead carpenter on our construction team.
As a family business, we seek to make everyone— our clients, guests, and staff— feel at home in the trees. We believe in hospitality, environmental stewardship, and celebrating life, love, and nature. For photos and videos of our recent work, as well as more information on our services, please visit nelsontreehouse.com.
Thank you for making our dreams come to life. Your support means the world to us.
