The Imperial Theatre was constructed in the summer of 1926 in Griffin. The Imperial Theater opened its doors for the first time on May 1, 1927 after the town decided to add moving pictures as an entertainment option. "The Night of Love”, a silent movie, was the first motion picture shown and was accompanied by a $12,000 Robert Morton organ. The Morton’s oak organ was situated to the left side of the stage, its pipework installed in chambers. All that is left today is the façade of the Imperial and a small park.
