DollyBrook Resort at DollyBrook Farms is located on 40 acres of beautiful countryside land in Ganges, MI. We are located just 7 minutes from Saugatuck and Fennville, 15 minutes north of South Haven and 15 minutes south of Holland. Public beach access to Lake Michigan is only 5 minutes away!

Fall kind of sneaks in through Crane's.

It's a family orchard out in Fennville, been run by the same folks for generations. You go to grab a bag of apples, and next thing you know it's two hours later, you've got cider, and you're arguing about whether to get one pie or two. (Get two.)

It's five minutes down the road from us. When Crane's opens up for the season, that's usually when you know the good months are here.

This is the last weekend that still counts as summer.

Kids stay out too late, the fire burns down slower than usual, and there's that quiet thing in the back of your head - back to school, back to alarms, back to ...all of it.

Summer's basically done. It's fine.🙂

There's a boat hanging from the ceiling in this one, and we've stopped explaining it. 🙂

Guests walk in, stop, look up, and then spend a minute working out how it's attached. Kids are convinced it's going to come down. It isn't, but the theory improves the stay considerably.

Years later, they may not remember which cabin they stayed in. But they’ll probably remember the one with the boat on the ceiling.

Michigan blueberry season is happening right now, and Pleasant Hill is seven minutes from your cabin.

It's a family-run farm in Fennville with u-pick rows and pre-picked baskets if you'd rather skip the labor. Kids take to it immediately, mostly because the rules are simple and about a third of what they pick never makes it into the bucket.

Go in the morning before it gets hot, then bring them back and figure out what to do with four pounds of blueberries. Pancakes, usually. Sometimes just a bowl and a spoon.

Here's a thing that surprises people: fall might be the better season here.

Summer books out months in advance and the property is full. September and October are quieter, the light gets long and gold, and the woods do something in October that photos never quite manage. Cooler evenings mean the fire pit stops being optional and starts being the whole point.

There's still good availability through the fall, including weekends. If summer got away from you this year, this is the version we'd honestly recommend anyway.

There's a shift that happens in August, and every parent feels it before the kids do.

The store displays change. Somebody mentions supply lists. And suddenly you're counting the weekends instead of just having them, doing quiet math on how many are left before everything goes back to schedules and alarms.

The kids haven't noticed yet. They're still out there until dark, still asking for ten more minutes, still convinced this goes on forever. Let them think it a little longer.

We put in two pickleball courts, and they've become the easiest way to get everyone outside at the same time.

It's rare to find something a grandparent and a ten-year-old can play together without one of them carrying the other. Ten minutes to learn, and after that it's mostly laughing and a lot of "okay, one more."

Evenings are best. The heat lets up, and what starts as two people hitting a ball turns into a line of people waiting for a turn.

Every stay hits the same moment: it's six o'clock, nobody feels like driving anywhere, and someone still has to solve dinner.

The Little Store is two minutes down the road, and it has answered that question more times than we can count. Best pizza around, broasted chicken, subs, a full ice cream parlor for afterward. Groceries, beer, and most of whatever you forgot to pack.

It's the closest place to us and one of the first we point people toward. Because it works, every single time.

That's July, gone already. It went the way good summers always do - fast, full, and a little blurry in the best way.

Pools and porches, late dinners, kids who only came inside when it got dark. We watched a lot of families slow down this month, and that never gets old.

Late August still has a few openings if you're chasing one more stretch of summer before the season turns. After that, the quiet months roll in - and those have their own kind of good.

Nothing on this property gets used more in the evening than the fire pits.

They're already stocked when you get here - wood, kindling, matches, the whole thing ready to go. All you bring is the marshmallows and whoever you feel like sitting with.

By nine o'clock the kids have sticky hands and the adults have stopped checking their phones, and nobody's in a hurry to call it a night.
