We may all be painting the same picture, but AMA is anything but one size fits all. As one of the residents says, it's not about painting one way or another, and it's not about right or wrong, "it's all a part of us."

You've always belonged at the table - always had the capacity for personal growth and creativity. Sometimes, it just takes a certain type of environment to realize it.

At Awakening Minds Art, our group classes are a place to create, connect, learn something new and experience that wonderful feeling of “I made this!”

And here's something we want more people to know:
Our programs are for EVERYONE.

All ages. All abilities. All experience levels. You don't need to consider yourself an artist, and you don't need a special reason to join us. Come create alongside people in your community and see what makes an Awakening Minds Art class so special.

Because while everyone leaves with artwork, what happens around the table matters just as much: confidence grows, friendships form, skills are practiced and people who may not otherwise cross paths get to create side by side.

AMA strives to meet our students where ever they are. In our skilled nursing and assisted living facilities, where ever our clients are could be a wide range, indeed. The other day Clara was not following the steps as Jenn presented them, but she was absolutely painting with purpose. Jenn and Activities staff made the decision to just let Clara do her thing.

What was intended to be coneflowers in the sunset looked a bit chaotic on Clara’s canvas. The group changed colors and brushes and Clara continued to paint her own vision.

At the end of the class there were 7 interpretations of coneflowers. There was also Clara’s painting and she was still working on it!

Her painting was spectacular! It was what her mind’s eye saw and created! She took what was offered to the group and truly made it her own! I can’t think of anything truer to AMA than that!
