Our annual Jack O' Lantern Days celebration is set for next weekend, and while there's plenty of activities to take part in, we want to take a moment to point out an especially spooky one: the Haunted Trail.

This 1/8-mile walk through Fish Creek Park at dusk takes place from 6-8 pm on Saturday, October 31. Thanks to the many volunteers that give their time and creativity to the trail every year, there will be plenty of scares and terrors!

We also have a "slightly less scary" version of the trail for families with small children from 6-6:30 pm. 😊

Planning a Fish Creek with a big crew? Fish Creek Lodge on Main Street has room for all of you.

The entire lodge has seven bedrooms and seven bathrooms, which is perfect for a family reunion or a trip with friends. With its massive stone fireplace in the main living room, game room, a full cooking kitchen, and washer and dryers in each unit, and a private outdoor space, it's a perfect space for large groups to stretch out and stay awhile.

For smaller groups, the Lodge can be split into two private units: Deer Path with four bedrooms, and Eagle's Nest has three.

Have you ever watched your shoes being made? At Fish Creek Moccasin, you actually can.

Owner Garrett and his team cuts and stitches each pair right there in the shop, and they make handmade moccasins in a myriad of hides, styles and sizes for men, women, and children.

In addition to mocassins, they also have a large selection of hats, belts, wallets, and other accessories.

Looking for a place to shop AND wander in Fish Creek, maybe with a little side of history? We suggest Founder's Square in downtown Fish Creek.

Most of the shops are in original cottages that housed Door County visitors back in the 1800s, so you're surrounded by history. And the square itself is named for Asa Thorp, the founder of Fish Creek. He built the village's first pier and sawmill, and his log cabin from 1849 still stands right next to the patio at Pelletier's Restaurant. The cabin is listed on the State Register of Historic Places, and it's worth a stop on your way through!

Also worth a stop? Founder's Square's mix of over a dozen shops and boutiques, selling everything from fine art to homegoods to stylish clothing.

Don't be a chicken (unless you want to dress as one for Halloween)—this year's Jack O' Lantern Days is only as scary as you want it to be.

Our hometown Halloween festival is back on Friday, October 30 and Saturday, October 31, and there's something for little witches and goblins of all ages. Here's some of what's happening around town:

Glow-in-the-dark mini golf at Evergreen Miniature Golf
Mask making at PenArt on Saturday morning
Costume march at Clark Park before town-wide trick-or-treating
The Open Door Bird Sanctuary, bringing its live raptors to Founder's Square
A magic show at the Old Town Hall
After dark, walk the Haunted Trail at Fish Creek Park (if you're brave enough!)
And, of course, Bayside Tavern's annual adult Halloween Party

Door County Homestead Suites is a home away from home (except someone else makes the bed and nobody asks you to take out the trash). It's also open all year, so you can come up for fall colors, a snowy winter weekend or a summer on the water.

Taking care of guests runs in the family. Owners Paul and Debby Woerfel are third-generation Door County innkeepers, and in the 1920s, Paul's grandparents welcomed guests on this same spot at their Happy Hour Tea Shop. That means they know a thing or two when it comes to taking care of guests!

The hotel sits right at the entrance to Peninsula State Park, so you can hike, cross-country ski or snowshoe straight from the door. When your feet have had enough, head back to enjoy the indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna (and some suites have their own two-person whirlpool tub!).

The location also means it's a short walk into town for dinner or shopping, and it's also walkable to shows at the Door County Auditorium or classes at PenArt!

Fall is one of the best times to play Peninsula State Park Golf Course! The course winds through Peninsula State Park's beautiful cedar, oak, beech and maple trees, so you'll get plenty of fall color along with views of the water and the Niagara Escarpment.

The 18-hole course has been a favorite among Door County golfers since 1931, and we're willing to bet it has something to do with hole #8. A par three and a 66-yarder, this hole starts atop a 50-foot cliff and ends at the green down below. It's lovingly referred to as the park's "mini-golf hole."

Not able to take on the whole 18 hole course? There's also a six-hole short course that's a fun, easygoing option, as well as a driving range.
