It's been a whirlwind of season openings for Door County arts organizations, and we're not done yet. Tonight, it's Birch Creek Music Performance Center's turn. 🎉

Each summer, students entering grades 7 through 12 travel from up to 15 states and even other countries to study alongside a faculty of professional musicians, many of whom teach and perform at some of the most prestigious music schools in the country.

Together they present more than 30 concerts in Birch Creek's historic Dutton Barn—performing just feet away in one of the most intimate, acoustically magical settings around—plus over 30 outreach concerts across the academy season (chances are you'll see them at a Door County community "Concerts in the Park" this summer!).

First up is one of four two-week sessions: Percussion, Steel Pan & World Music, kicking off with "Good Vibrations: Percussion Plays The 1960s," an foot-tapping night of rhythm led by Program Director Dan Moore. From there, the summer brings a full 85+ piece Symphony session (don't miss "A Birch Creek Symphonic Fourth" on July 4! 🎆) and two sessions of red-hot Big Band Jazz.

Get the details of their season here, and best of luck on your opening, Birch Creek! https://www.birchcreek.org/tickets

Well, this was a fun little accolade to see last week: According to USA TODAY 10Best, our own Peninsula State Park is one of the best state parks in the United States!

(But we already knew that, right?)

"Hugging eight miles of shoreline in Wisconsin's Door County, Peninsula State Park combines rocky bluffs, sandy beaches, and dense forests. The park's 20 miles of hiking trails and 12 miles of rugged off-road bicycle paths offer stunning views of Green Bay and nearby islands, as does Eagle Tower. Nature enthusiasts can spot white-tailed deer, porcupines, and over 100 bird species, while water lovers enjoy kayaking, fishing, and swimming from Nicolet Beach. See a summer performance at the Northern Sky Theater's outdoor stage, too."

Couldn't have said it better ourselves. 😉

Who's planning a trip to Peninsula State Park this year? What are you planning on doing while you're there?

Congrats to Northern Sky Theater on the start of their season TONIGHT!

If you've never been to a show at Northern Sky, this season is the season to remedy that IMMEDIATELY.

Their season kicks off this evening at their indoor Gould Theater with a one-week only Fred Alley Tribute Concert, a celebration of their beloved co-founder's work, created and performed by his friends. 💛

Their outdoor season at the amphitheater at Peninsula State Park begins next Wednesday, June 23 with "The Thing with Feathers," Northern Sky's new show about birds, the people who love them, and the people who don't understand the people who love them. Two other shows—returning favorites "When Butter Churns to Gold" and "Something in the Water" return next week, too!

Congrats to the whole company on the season opening, and we'll see you under the stars! Take a look at the whole season (including the fall shows!) here: https://northernskytheater.com/

PS: Here are one of the many bird puppets you can expect to see in "The Thing With Feathers." Pretty cool, right?

Congrats (and "Break a leg!") to Peninsula Players Theatre on opening their 91st season tomorrow!

"America's oldest professional resident summer theater" raises the curtain at its beloved all-weather pavilion on the shore of Green Bay—easily one of the most magical places to catch a show anywhere in the country. (We're biased, but still.)

First up on the Players' schedule is "Baggage," a romantic comedy by Sam Bobrick (the writer behind "Get Smart," "Bewitched," and "Saved by the Bell.") When two heartbroken strangers have their luggage mixed up at the airport, they strike up an unlikely friendship — and maybe more. Funny, warm, and the perfect way to kick off a summer of theater under the pines.

Their season spans five shows, and runs through mid-October. For more info or to grab your tickets for an upcoming show, head here: https://peninsulaplayers.com/

(Also, love this photo of Administrative Interns Mia and Erin posing excitedly about the first show sign going up at the theatre!)

Tonight's the night! Meet us at Fish Creek Beach for the first Fish Fri concert of the season!

The concert will kick off at 5 pm this evening with the sounds of the Lewis Murphy Band. This awesome duo plays plenty of vintage rock, country, and bluegrass. Think of them as Door County's own Loggins and Messina...but better. 😉

Bring your beach chairs, blankets, snacks, and maybe even your dancing shoes!

There's going to be so many of our performing arts and music organizations kicking off their summer seasons over the next few weeks, and we are HERE FOR IT. 👏

First up, is the Door County Family (DCA) + The Cramer Exchange, whose 2026 season officially begins tomorrow with a SOLD OUT Wallflowers show.

While the rest of us were hunkered down for winter, the DCA team was hard at work putting the finishing touches on The Cramer Exchange. The new venue is an intimate gathering and performance hall with an education wing complete with practice rooms and a recording studio, a bar and soda foundation, and a patio. Look for everything from comedy shows to dance classes to plenty of concerts there!

The full DCA line-up (including events at the Cramer Exchange, which begin in early July) can be found here: https://www.dcauditorium.org/

Midsummer's Music in Door County's 36th season begins this Friday, June 12!

For over three decades, this beloved chamber music society has brought world-class classical musicians to some of Door County's most beautiful and unexpected venues: from historic churches to modern art spaces and everything in between.

Their season starts in the venue of another well-loved Door County arts organization—Birch Creek Music Performance Center—with "Beauty and Brilliance," their love letter to Schubert's Nocturne, Mozart's 1st Piano Quartet, and Joachim Raff's First Piano Quartet. From there, they'll perform an incredible 43 concerts through September 7 in venues all across the peninsula.

Fish Creek's Fish Fri Concert Series is back in action beginning this Friday, and we're kicking off with a local favorite: the Lewis Murphy Band! Join as at the Fish Creek beach from 5-7 pm this Friday.

These lifelong musicians of the Lewis Murphy band bring a masterful combination of blues, country, h***y tonk, and rock n' roll that will open the summer in style. Grab your lawn chairs, pack a cooler, and prepare your ears for a full dose of musical magic on the water, Fish Creek-style.

Admission to these concerts is free, and to make it a full evening, make plans to head to one of our many restaurants for dinner at the end of the show! In case of rain, concerts will be moved inside to the Old Town Hall (corner of Maple & Spruce across from Clark Park downtown Fish Creek). If it does rain, we'll be updating this page, so keep your eyes peeled!

Can't make this show? There's plenty more fun throughout the summer. Take a look at the full Fish Fri schedule here: https://visitfishcreek.com/event/fish-fri-concert-series-2026/

Do you ever have those shops where you just know you're going to come out with so many treasures for other people, but also a few for yourself? The Ginger House is one of those places, for sure.

This small but mighty shop is now in its fifth season, and every visit feels like a mini trip around the world. 🌍

So who's Ginger? She's the heart and soul behind The Ginger House, and her story is just as charming as her boutique. After 37 years in the travel industry, Ginger turned her passion for globetrotting into something magical: a curated boutique tucked into the European-style Settlement Shops of Fish Creek. Her travels with the airlines connected her with incredible artisans from all over the world, and those relationships are what make every piece in the shop feel so special.

In Ginger's own words: "It's funny how life can change, guiding us down paths that lead to a world both unknown and familiar. My travels with the airlines have connected me with incredible artisans and inspiring stories. Each encounter has enriched my journey, bringing me to this beautiful chapter. I invite you to visit and explore my unique, creative, and fun boutique!" 💛

Whether you're hunting for the perfect gift or treating yourself to something one-of-a-kind, The Ginger House delivers global beauty with serious Door County charm. Come browse, get inspired, and find a treasure (or three) to take home. ☺️
