Recently our ranch manager Ben Wynthein had the honor of leading two classes at Tippet Rise. On a beautiful summer day, students from Rocky Mountain College engaged in a range and wetlands ecology class with a focus on ranch operations, range management, and land stewardship. The following day was an educational tour with the Montana Native Plant Society which focused on plant management, range and ranching operations, and wildlife management and conservation.

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗿 (𝗦𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟰-𝟲)
During week four of the 2026 concert season, the Emmy-nominated Anderson & Roe Piano Duo returns to Tippet Rise for two distinct programs – the first, on Friday evening, includes their Blue Danube Fantasy and other arrangements of works from Brahms and Schubert in the Olivier Music Barn with four hands on one piano, and the second, on Saturday afternoon, offering arrangements of Radiohead, Sigur Rós, and The Beatles, coupled with classical works by Bach/Gounod, Ravel, Holst, and Brahms will be performed in Will’s Shed on two pianos. On Saturday morning, the Grammy-winning Takács Quartet makes its Tippet Rise debut and performs Haydn's String Quartet in C Major, Op. 20 No. 2, and Schubert’s “Death and the Maiden” in the Olivier Music Barn. The week concludes on Sunday with renowned British pianist Danny Driver’s performance, juxtaposing works by Debussy and Ligeti in the Olivier Music Barn.

Over the past few weeks, guests at the art center have had the opportunity to enjoy the temporary installation 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙨, by Martha Tuttle, on the trail to 𝘟𝘺𝘭𝘦𝘮 in the main Cottonwood Campus. A multidisciplinary artist based in Montana, Martha Tuttle has spent several weeks in residence at Tippet Rise over the past two years and she created 𝘊𝘢𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳’𝘴 𝘞𝘰𝘰𝘥𝘴 during her residency at Alexander Calder’s studio in Sache, France. Comprised of several aluminum casts of natural objects found in the surrounding woods, the work examines Tuttle’s interest in varying scales and concepts of motion – both active and propelled. Tuttle also recently installed 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 1-4 in the Olivier Music Barn featuring works made of wool, silk, pigment, dye and found objects of stones and bones from the art center.

Martha Tuttle is presenting a talk today on her new temporary installations at Tippet Rise, 𝘾𝙖𝙡𝙙𝙚𝙧’𝙨 𝙒𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙨 and 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙬𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙧, 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙡𝙞𝙜𝙝𝙩 1-4 in conversation with Tippet Rise co-founder and artist Cathy Halstead.

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗲 (𝗔𝘂𝗴𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝟮𝟴-𝟯𝟬)
During week three of our concert season, Tippet Rise welcomes back the internationally renowned pianist Yulianna Avdeeva on Friday evening for an all-Chopin recital in the Olivier Music Barn, including the Mazurkas, Op. 30; 12 Études, Op. 25; and his Andante spianato et Grande polonaise brillante. On Saturday, the brass quartet The Westerlies performs an outdoor program at the 𝘋𝘰𝘮𝘰, featuring selections from The Westerlies’ “Songbook” recording project, celebrating a century of American music and including interpretations of works by Fleet Foxes, Joanna Newsom, Aoife O’Donovan, Anaïs Mitchell, and Samora Pinderhughes. Sunday morning’s concert features accordionist Radu Ratoi who will lead a concert as part of Tippet Rise’s 𝘞𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 series, in which musicians and audiences move among different works of art within the art center’s Cottonwood Campus. The program includes arrangements of works ranging from Rameau, Couperin, and Bach, to Saint-Saëns and Liszt, and to Vladimir Vlasov, Paul Desmond, and Piazzolla. Week Three then wraps up with a child-friendly family concert from 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 starting with an “instrument petting zoo” to encourage participation in youth music programs.
