When in San Diego and your friend has several extra bikes, an extra BMW GS even… it was impossible to resist visiting my old standby, Julian Pie 🥧 Co 😍 the mountain roads were as twisty and perfect as ever.

We are official supporters of the Backcountry Discovery Routes! Our HQ for fully-outfitted BMW and KTM ADV rentals to fuel your Southwest adventure is only 5 miles off the AZBDR, close to the UTBDR and COBDR starts. We have lodging in a private guest house and parking as well for people to stage. Looking forward to meeting riders from all over and enabling some rad adventures- there are trails and fun roads for all seasons easily reachable from here in addition to the Four Corners BDRs!

There are many different ruin sites all over the Southwest from various tribes for history buffs to ride to and learn about- and their descendants are still here today! Think Wupatki, Walnut Canyon, and the Elden Pueblo which are all very close to Flagstaff, Chaco Canyon, the Honanki and Palatki sites down a fun dirt trail in Sedona, Montezuma’s Castle south near Camp Verde, the list goes on. Some of these peoples would have even seen the sunset crater volcano 🌋 eruption (that is what made the hundreds of feet deep lava flow in the last picture)

A happy renter took the 850GS down through Sedona and the twisties of Jerome all the way to the historic mountain town of Prescott 🤠 he and his brother enjoyed the break from the East Coast heat and humidity!

It’s only about an hour ride to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim from our HQ in Flagstaff, with great roads and trails along the way! 🏜️ the views from the Grandview Viewpoint and other lookouts are, indeed, grand! 😍

Rode from my front door to the Backcountry Discovery Routes AZBDR section 5 into the Land of 600 Volcanoes 🌋 and Cinder Hills OHV area. So lucky to live 5 minutes away from amazing trails and added some big bike friendly ones to my repertoire for tours!

We are at the BMW MOA Rally in Tennessee talking to riders from all over the country! TN has some incredible riding, including the famous Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway 🐉

Scouting the headwaters of Sycamore Canyon, lakes, and dispersed camp spots in the woods south of Williams. Sycamore Canyon is mostly a wilderness and joins the Verde River Canyon west of Sedona, but you can get some great views of it from the top on forest service trails!

My BDR bike is back in action with a new radiator and thermostat housing… now the fleet is all back together again 🥳 the 850 will be a great BDR bike as well once I put knobbies on it, for somebody taller than me anyway.

One of many new amazing rides nearby- the switchbacks of Highway 89A going into Sedona, red rock cliffs, so many great trails, and Native American dwelling sites!
