Event: Flash Flood Watch (why am I getting this notice?)
Effective: 02:43 PM CDT on 09/13/2018
Expires: 07:00 PM CDT on 09/15/2018
Alert: Deep moisture, associated with a tropical disturbance over the western Gulf of Mexico, will move into South Central Texas on Friday and persist through the weekend. Showers and thunderstorms will produce periods of tropical downpours during this time. There is the potential for some bands of heavier rainfall to develop, but it is currently difficult to pinpoint exactly where. Much of the region is near-saturated from recent rainfall, and any additional heavy rainfall could quickly lead to flash flooding. There is a potential the watch could be expanded further north or west. The National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for a portion of south central Texas, including the following areas, Atascosa, Bandera, Bexar, Comal, De Witt, Dimmit, Frio, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Karnes, Kendall, Kerr, Kinney, Lavaca, Maverick, Medina, Real, Uvalde, Wilson, and Zavala. * From Friday morning through Saturday evening * Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will impact the region. Between 2 and 4 inches of rainfall, with isolated pockets up to 8 inches, are possible. Due to sensitivity of nearly-saturated grounds over the area, any additional heavy rains will result in quick run-off and an increased risk for flash flooding. * Flooding of low water crossings and urban areas is possible. If you encounter a flooded roadway, Turn Around, Don't Drown!
Instructions: A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
Target Area: Medina; Comal; Bandera; Zavala; Guadalupe; Uvalde; Kerr; Atascosa; Frio; Wilson; Dimmit; Real; Gonzales; Maverick; Kendall; Kinney; Lavaca; De Witt; Bexar; Karnes
