Today we were at the Salt Mines of Maras - Salineras de Maras, near Urubamba, in the Sacred Valley of Cusco, Peru.
These mines were used by the Incas, though story tells that the original mines were made by pre-inca cultures and the Incas perfected them.
Today the same technique is used by the local community and it serves as a form of income both in delicious salt and as a tourist attraction.
