The last Free Movie Friday happens TOMORROW at Forest City Pavilion On Park Square - POPS! Join us for one last movie under the stars!

Join us THIS FRIDAY, September 4, for the FINAL Free Movie Friday of the season featuring A Minecraft Movie! ⛏️

Bring your friends, grab some snacks, and help us close out the season with a fun night at POPS! Concessions will be open with snacks and drinks from Explore Forest City, and In His Word Hot Dogs will be onsite with dinner covered.

The movie begins at 8PM, and the pre-movie dance party starts at 7PM. We'll see you there!

The hairstylists at the Hair Castle showed us on Monday that the relationship between a hair stylist and her customer is a truly special one!

Our historic Main Street Town of Forest City suffered an incredible loss yesterday. Fire consumed and destroyed one of the oldest buildings on Main Street, the former Farmers Hardware store, located at 110 West Main Street. The building had been vacant for several years.

Thankfully, employees at neighboring storefronts were able to get to safety, and there are no reported injuries.

We are incredibly grateful to Forest City Fire Rescue who responded quickly and, with assistance from neighboring fire departments, was able to contain the fire to just the one building. Forest City Police Department and local traffic organizations assisted with closing roads, detouring traffic, and keeping onlookers at a safe distance.

The mayor, town council members, town manager and town employees were on site, lending assistance wherever needed. Our Main Street merchants rallied around one another, offering support and compassion to those affected.

Most of all, we want to express our deepest gratitude to our “small town, deep roots” community. Thank you for the prayers, love, encouragement, and support you showed us yesterday and continue to show us as we navigate this difficult situation together.

While we mourn the loss of a piece of our town’s history, we are reminded of what makes Forest City so special — our people, our resilience, and the way we come together when our community needs us most.

Located on the grounds of Tryon International and just 15 minutes from Town of Forest City, this 3-day festival brings some of the biggest names in bluegrass/Americana to our community! Our fountain is glowing pink in memory of Dolly Parton and the incredible impact she has had on so many lives. 🩷🦋

When you purchase a slice of chocolate chess pie at Pie Safe Baking Company, 25% will be donated to our local Mooneyham Public Library in memory of Dolly Parton! What a wonderful way to remember Dolly!

Dolly was known to enjoy pie for her birthday, rather than cake. Her favorite pie was an old-fashioned chocolate chess pie. There are people who shape the very culture and fabric of their timeline. Dolly was one of those people. Dolly embodied what we feel was the epitome of southern charm, warm, inviting, generous, kind to all those around her, things we can all strive for ourselves. The positive impact she had on the world around her, will be felt and known for generations to come. Today we are honoring Dolly in the best way we know how, with a slice of chocolate chess pie with a healthy side of southern charm. 🥧 🩷🌸

This weekend we will also be donating 25% of our proceeds for every slice of chocolate chess pie sold, to our local library system to honor Dolly’s legacy.

It's and we are heading back to school! The Forest City Graded School (Rutherford County Schools, NC) opened in Fall of 1922. The contract for construction was in the amount of $74,700 with contractor J.P. Little & Son of Charlotte as the successful bidder. The building was designed by J.M. McMichael of Charlotte, who also designed First Baptist Church of Forest City, NC. The school was destroyed by fire in August 1964. (📷: Forgotten Rutherford County, NC)
