Pekoe Trail Stage 22 on a Rainy Day 🍃🌿

Walking Stage 22 of the Pekoe Trail in the rain transforms the final stretch into a peaceful and atmospheric journey. Mist drifts across the rolling tea estates, softening the distant hills and creating an almost dreamlike landscape. The fresh scent of wet earth and tea leaves fills the cool mountain air, while raindrops glisten on every leaf.

The trail from Kandapola to Pedro Estate winds through lush tea plantations, small farming communities, and quiet estate roads. Rain adds a gentle rhythm to the hike as droplets fall from towering eucalyptus trees and the sound of flowing streams grows louder. Clouds frequently descend, revealing and concealing sweeping views of the surrounding mountains in ever-changing patterns.

Although the path can become muddy and slippery, the rain brings out the vibrant green of the tea fields and makes waterfalls and streams more lively. Tea pluckers, often dressed in colorful raincoats, continue their work, adding life and character to the misty landscape. The cool temperatures make the walk comfortable, provided you have waterproof clothing and sturdy hiking shoes.

Reaching Pedro Estate in the rain feels especially rewarding. The final views of Nuwara Eliya emerging through the mist create a memorable ending to the Pekoe Trail, leaving hikers with a lasting impression of Sri Lanka's hill country at its most beautiful and serene. Stage 22 is approximately 11 km long and is considered a moderate hike, with extensive tea estate tracks and limited shelter, so carrying rain gear is especially important during wet weather.
