The Forsyth-Monroe County Sports Hall of Fame Induction Banquet is coming up fast—Saturday, June 13 at 6PM in the Monroe County GA Conference Center. This much-anticipated annual event is always a sell-out, so don't delay, be sure to secure your tickets today! 🎟

Tickets are $40, and we have some here at the Welcome Center you can purchase via cash or check. Today's vibe is collaboration—shout out to The 1823 Artisan Guild for helping us level up Visit Forsyth GA's booth for Explore Georgia's "Georgia, The Whole Day Through" showcase during the FIFA World Cup! Guild members Misty Sparks and Cynthia Griffin painted these lovely, whimsical rocks for our tic tac toe board. 🐞🐝Thank you so much, ladies! Our booth is all about kicking back and enjoying the simple pleasures of an Americana Summer in the South. We absolutely can't wait for FIFA fans to play with these friendly little fellas next week! ✨

🍄 Save the date for Saturday, June 13—the Game of Shrooms is coming to Monroe County! 🍄

Game of Shrooms is a once-a-year, worldwide art phenomenon featuring that famous fungus, the humble mushroom. On June 13, artists from all over the world hide their original mushroom-themed art in public places. Here in Monroe County, we have three communities participating: High Falls, Forsyth, and Culloden! Each community will provide clues to find their hidden mushroom art, and this year we also have restaurants joining in the fun with featured mushroom menu specials. Full details below! 👇

📍 High Falls
High Falls has two hunt times: 10AM and 1PM. You'll find clues on the High Falls Folk Fest page! When you're hungry for more, head over to High Falls Wing Depot for their on-special "Mushroom Philly Cheese Steak".

📍 Forsyth
In Forsyth, the 1823 Artisan Guild is hosting a range of activities from 10AM to 2PM! 1) Stop in to get a clue to find your hidden mushroom somewhere around downtown. 2) Design and decorate your OWN mini mushroom art piece at the guild. 3) Prizes galore await, so follow their pages for more details on ways to win!


When you've worked up your appetite, two Forsyth restaurants are running menu specials: Grits Cafe with the 'Shroom Burger and Stuffed Mushrooms appetizer, + Fox City Brewing with the Creamy Mushroom Marsala over Tortellini Pasta.


📍 Culloden
In Culloden, mushrooms will be hidden around town between 11AM and 1:30PM. Find details and clues on the "City of Culloden" Facebook Group Page. When you're ready for a bite, head to Southern Deli and Cafe where mushrooms will be available as a specialty topping to add to your favorite dish!

Occasionally Visit Forsyth GA will get confused with Discover Forsyth County GA, a common mix up that created the happiest of accidents earlier this month. Heather and Josh Parker recently moved to Georgia and settled in Forsyth County. One day, Heather was googling live theater in Forsyth and found The Rose Theater and saw that her favorite play, “Drinking Habits” was being performed in May. They bought tickets…and then realized it was Forsyth, GA and not Forsyth County, GA. So Heather and Josh decided to make a weekend of it, experiencing not only the play (starring Visit Forsyth GA’s own Chelsea Bunn Kerr) but other hidden gems in Forsyth!

I'm excited to announce that several of our iconic Monroe Co restaurants have joined the game WITH MUSHROOM MENU ITEMS!!! While you're out hunting on June 13 all you mycophiles and mycophages can fuel up on these specials of the day. Participating restaurants will also have a limited number of these sweet stickers courtesy the Forsyth Convention & Visitors Bureau at the host stand. You gotta ask for it! More details to come...
