There were a few bumps, mostly weather related. But the Princess team is always the best (Crooners, Concerto Dining Room, Retreat Bar, Cabin Steward, and more). The food and endless supply of Buffalo Trace aren’t bad either.

🇵🇷 🏝️ 🍹 We don’t usually do excursions through the cruise line. But Vivo Beach Club was a good call for the San Juan, Puerto Rico port stop. Great service, Carolina beach, plenty of pools, and a few waves for bodysurfing (earlier this week the were 7-10 feet).

Cruising out of Ft Lauderdale? The Kimpton Shorebreak is a good overnight stop. Bonus, lobster quesadilla from Loma and avocado on homemade toast with a margajito from Village Cafe…both easy walks.

Great first day on ! The excitement started when we passed the covid test at the port. Quick boarding process and friendly service. The ship is really cool so we couldn’t resist a few of the selfie spots. Dinner (and a Hugo) at Extra Virgin. Wrapped up with the best live blues I’ve seen in a long time.

3 for 3 on the pre-cruise meals. Naked Taco for chorizo and octopus tacos, Puerto Sagua for a Cuban dinner plus flan de coco, and brunch at Limonada (great courtyard and service) for a cucumber jalapeño margarita, huevos rancheros, and avocado toast for my favorite hipster! 🌶 🥑 🍹

Snuck in a day early for our first cruise on Virgin Voyages. The Hotel of South Beach was the right call. Friendly staff, BOGO happy hour at the rooftop pool (from noon to 5 today), crawling distance from the beach and spitting distance to the port. Instead of a chocolate on our pillow we got flip flops! 🩴

Should be back in Florida later this week 🤞🏼

Next time you’re there and ready for a break from the beach check out the historic downtown area of St Augustine. Diverse food options, backstreet bars, and plenty of history on display.

Don’t miss the Colonial Oak Music Park. They have live music most weekends and were hosting the St Augustine Songwriters Festival when we visited.

The Icelandverse is unlike any other open-world experience with “-verse” in name, because it’s real. Plus, you don’t need a funny-looking VR headset.

On our way to downtown St Augustine the GPS showed something called the Great Cross coming up so we decided on a quick detour. What a find! If you’re in the area and interested in history or religion (or just want to stretch your legs in a quiet spot) add this place to your list.

The cross is part of a complex that includes free access to the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche and the Mission Nombre de Dios (the oldest in the U.S.).
