Life at Fort Morgan wasn't easy. Soldiers stationed here faced heat, isolation, storms, and long periods away from family. Yet they played a vital role protecting one of the most important entrances to Mobile Bay.

These photographs capture military life at the fort during the early twentieth century. From training exercises to daily routines, the images offer a fascinating look at a chapter of Alabama military history that often goes overlooked.
