Resort Spotlight: Tropical Sands Resort--7785 Estero Blvd, Ft. Myers Beach, FL 33931

Tropical Sands Resort is located on the southern end of Ft. Myers Beach just past the Santini Shopping complex. This resort features a 2-bed/2-bath layout that is able to sleep 6 people very comfortably. The large condo unit has a full kitchen, washer and dryer, master bedroom with king bed, twin beds in the second bedroom, free wifi, screened in porch/lanai, and ground floor rooms have access to the pool deck directly from their porch.

The resort itself has beach and gulf views and is less than a 3 minute walk to having your feet in the sand. Prior to hurricane Ian, the area did not have much of a beach area to enjoy. But now.....a very large white sand beach is a thing of dreams! Being away from the busy Times Square area, this area of the beach is very quiet and not a lot of foot traffic to speak of at most times of the day!

The resort has a very large heated pool, brand new hot tub, outdoor gas grills, covered chikee huts, a golf putting course, outdoor games, a meeting room, a small gym, and free parking!

This location is great for larger families needing more room for accommodations but is perfectly fine for couples and singles as well. People staying in these units rave about the size of the rooms as well as the quiet environment the resort provides.

Located at the southern end of Sanibel Island, this resort is directly on the beachfront with all units facing the water! Each room is a 2-bed/2-bath that sleeps up to 6 people. Full kitchens. Gulf water views from the living room and master bedroom. Screened in lanai with access from the living room and master bedroom. Covered parking available. Free wifi. Very large and very comfortable!

The resort has a very large heated pool, hot tub, pool bathrooms and sun deck centrally located between all of the rooms on the property. Free parking. A direct access boardwalk for the resort to the beach. Outdoor gas grills and picnic area. Tennis court and shuffleboard.

Managed by RAL Resorts since 2024, this is a gem of a location on the southern tip of Sanibel within walking distance to the lighthouse. Great shelling. Family friendly. This is a great place to plan your next vacation!

Groundbreaking ceremony set for Lee County’s replacement project of Fort Myers Beach Pier
Public encouraged to walk, cycle or ride LeeTran to attend Aug. 21 event

Fort Myers, FL, Aug. 14, 2026 – Lee County invites the community to celebrate the replacement of Lee County’s Fort Myers Beach Pier with a groundbreaking at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21.

The event will happen in the adjacent Crescent Beach Family Park, which recently reopened at 1100 Estero Blvd. and affords a view of the pier site. The park is near the base of the Matanzas Pass Bridge and Times Square. There is no onsite event parking. Attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle or ride LeeTran. (See details below.)

The replacement will extend the pier to roughly 1,000 feet long and 12 feet wide, or more than 70% longer and 50% wider than the pier destroyed by Hurricane Ian in September 2022. The pier will incorporate reinforced concrete piles, a concrete deck, aluminum railings, an entry gate and three shade structures, establishing the pier as a durable community landmark.

Project completion is anticipated for late Summer 2027, weather and unforeseen circumstances permitting. Lee County is funding the $14.4 million project (design and construction) using FEMA Public Assistance, Tourist Development Taxes and RESTORE ACT grants.

The official groundbreaking event will include brief remarks from Lee County Commissioners, other officials and Lee County staff. Attendees are encouraged to wear appropriate outdoor footwear and sun-protective attire.

Attendees are encouraged to ride LeeTran from the Beach Park & Ride, 11101 Summerlin Square Drive. The Beach Trolley Route 490 provides convenient transportation from the Beach Park & Ride – with direct service to Crescent Beach Family Park – about every 30 minutes. The regular fare of 75 cents each way will be waived from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, to accommodate groundbreaking ceremony participants.

• Departure times from the Park & Ride to Crescent Beach Family Park prior to the event are 7:55, 8:24, 8:53, 9:22 and 9:51 a.m. The ride takes about 15 minutes.

• Departure times from Crescent Beach Family Park to the Beach Park & Ride after the event are 10:05, 10:34 and 11:03 a.m. (Note: the 11:03 a.m. Route 490 will still have a waived fare.)

Located mid-island directly on the beach across from the Publix shopping plaza. This location opened March of 2025 after a full renovation from Hurricane Ian. Each unit faces the water with it's own screened in lanai. The resort offers a beachfront heated pool, large sun deck, outdoor gas grills, shuffleboard, and direct beach access from the resort, on site washer and dryer facility, and free parking (1-spot per room reserved). The rooms are all fully furnished 1-bedroom/1-bathroom that sleep up to 6 people. Each room has a full kitchen, smart TVs, free wifi access, and a view of the beach!
