REALTORS & HOMEOWNERS PLEASE TAKE ACTION NOW!
The City of Cape Coral posted their agenda for the regularly scheduled council meeting, in the the agenda there is an introduction to the Ordinances 26-25 and 27-25. What these ordinances do is change the residential rental registration fee from $35 one time to $600 annually and includes a penalty that allows the police department to REMOVE occupants until the owner complies.
The annual fee will go into a new local TDT fund that is being created by the second ordinance. This fund will be used for the following:
1. Promotion and advertising to attract visitors.
2. Funding for local convention centers, sports stadiums, and art venues.
3. Capital improvements to tourist-related facilities.
4. Special events and cultural activities that drive tourism.
5. Conduct tourism research and data analysis.
6. Regulatory compliance, enforcement, and oversight related to tourism.
What they intend to use this fund for is to pay for the new Cape Coral cultural center, bocce ball courts, and a pickle ball stadium.
This is double taxing homeowners who already pay taxes and violating their fundamental private property rights.
I ask that you please email the city council members below and please tell them we are opposed to these ordinances.

Dear (Councilmember's Name),
I am (Your Name), a REALTOR from the Royal Palm Coast Realtor Association letting you know that I am deeply opposed to the introduction of Ordinance 26-25 and Ordinance 27-25. This is a revenue grab and a double tax on homeowners who already pay property taxes! I have deep concerns about the language in 26-25 that allows Cape Coral Police to enter private property and remove occupants for non-compliance. A violation of basic private property rights. Please defend the rights of homeowners and their private property rights and vote no on June 4th. Thank you.
