Fort Polk Staycation

Fort Polk Staycation I often hear “There is nothing to do at Fort Polk. “ The Fort Polk Staycations page is here to show you that there is always something to do locally.

Created to inform folks who are looking for new adventures and willing to travel locally, this page is dedicated to the Soldiers, Military Families, and Civilian Employees of Fort Polk who think there is nothing to do while stationed at Fort Polk However, to fully enjoy your time here, you may need to be willing to drive out of town and/or be open to new experience or ideas about fun. After 3 year

s stationed at Fort Polk and 12+ years of military moves to locations we would not choose to live on our own, I have learned to get out and make my own fun, find new adventures, and keep an open mind about what constitutes a new culture. I have had to dig for information on the area and would like to share my research with you. According to Wikipedia, "Common activities of a staycation include use of the backyard pool, visits to local parks and museums, and attendance at local festivals. Some staycationers also like to follow a set of rules, such as setting a start and end date, planning ahead, and avoiding routine, with the goal of creating the feel of a traditional vacation." So use this page as a starting point to plan activities for a Fort Polk Staycation - weekend, weeknight, or a day off. General Information
