What an incredible tour with an incredible group! The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island is majestic, and words cannot describe the beauty and the staff. Guests are without a doubt the highest priority. Our group's personal welcome, the champagne opening of the season toast with the President of the Grand Hotel, to servers, cosigner and housekeeping, just wow. The rooms were over the top in beauty and comfort. The food...well, we all pretty much agreed we were not eating for a week once we got home! A special tip of the hat to our bus driver Lisa from Royal excursions. The weather on the way home wasn't the best and you could say that we suffered from bus turbulence and blinding rain but by golly, Lisa knows how to handle her bus! Thank you to everyone who joined us on this special trip. You were a joy to spend 4 days with. 😊 - Diane

Happy 79th birthday to Sharon! Sharon and host Diane played hooky from the fancy dinner at Grand Hotel to eat cheese curds, sliders, giant glass cupcake desserts and live music at The Gate House (another Grand Hotel property) to celebrate. The server was a sweetheart working on the island as an intern from Hungary and went that extra mile to make sure she had some candles for her special day!

Never taken a bus tour? Well, here are some things to think about.

Yes, we have been promoting our tour to the Grand Hotel, May 1st-4th, 2026, a lot because it's sneaking up on us fast. Another incredible tour we are doing is September 12th-15th. The Bourborn and Horses Tour is an incredible 4 days of enjoying the two things Kentucky is known for.

For bourbon lovers, we will be visiting Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, and Buffalo Trace.
Horse lovers will enjoy our guided tour at the Kentucky Derby Museum with a Southern buffet lunch. We will also be touring Lane's End Stallion Farm, where you will see their indoor grounds and barns, and meet racing Thoroughbreds.

Also included on the tour are 3 consecutive nights at the Embassy Suites, East Louisville; 3 breakfasts and cocktail hours at the hotel; a step-on guide on both days of the tour with lunch in between stops; luxury bus transportation with Royal Excursion FW; luggage handling; service fees; and taxes.

While we have been promoting our Grand Hotel Tour, May 1-4, 2026, it's not just the hotel that evokes awe in the area; the famous Mackinac Bridge does as well. Opened in 1957, the bridge is the main connection between the lower US and the Michigan Upper Peninsula. Yes, you can get to the UP via Wisconsin; the bridge is at the northern tip of I-75 and an important crossway for goods and supplies. With the predicted blizzard in the UP and the bridge closed, thoughts are with our northern neighbors during this crazy display of weather from Mother Nature.

At 4:50PM the Mackinac Bridge remains closed because of the weather and there is no information on when it will reopen.

Most businesses in Mackinaw City and St Ignace have closed, but Kewadin Casino, 3015 Mackinac Trail, St Ignace, MI (906-643-7071) and Church of the Straits, 307 N Huron Ave, Mackinaw City, MI (269-650-1642) are available.
