Yellowstone & Grand Tetons 2026: Day 3
Why are we so enamored with the old West?
Prairie grass, cowboys, bison, unending blue skies, sage brush, tales of larger-than-life characters, Native American culture, wildlife, stage coaches, pioneers, and landscapes that take your breath away all serve to feed our interest in the history and stories of the West. The perseverance, bravery, and sometimes brutality of the people who called this vast land home amazes and inspires us. Our guide, Tom, gave us new insights into this beloved land.

We took a step back in time at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Museum and then enjoyed lunch in Casper, Wyoming, several hours away, getting us ever closer to our dream destination: Ucross Ranch.

The brown, barren landscape gave way to a lush, green valley. We could immediately feel our bodies relax, enjoying the secluded feeling of a space carved out just for us. We feasted on a delicious dinner, went horseback riding, relaxed on the front porch and had s'mores by the campfire with a guitar, a mandolin, and two very talented musicians.
My friends, dreams do come true!

Yellowstone & Grand Tetons 2026: Day 2
Crossing the the wide Missouri River this morning began our journey through the whole state of Nebraska, which has the self-deprecating slogan, "Nebraska: honestly, it's not for everyone! Makes you chuckle!
We watched a "get smart" video on the Pony Express right before stopping in Gothenburg, Nebraska, at a Pony Express station for a delicious picnic lunch. We visited the Pony Express and Gothenburg Historical museums which were both fascinating.
Did you know the Pony Express lasted only 18 months, that riders were often between the ages of 14 and 16 and that it went bankrupt?
After checking into our hotel in Cheyenne, Wyoming, we headed to our private rodeo and dinner. What a treat - the weather was perfect, the food delicious, and the rodeo action exciting! Who gets a private rodeo show? Land Cruisers do! Yippee-kai-yay!
We also were able to welcome aboard our step-on guide, Tom Deus, for the next 6 days.
A splendid second day!

Yellowstone & Grand Tetons: Day 1
Thirteen first time travelers and 18 2nd time Land Cruisers and our wonderful long time travelers have one common goal: to make new friends and immerse ourselves in the vast beauty of Yellowstone National Park and the majestic Teton mountain range.
Indiana, Illinois, and Iowa lie behind us and Nebraska stretches ahead as our journey continues tomorrow across the Mighty Missouri River and into the Western US.
The many rolling miles, lunch, music, naps, movie time (Sully), celebrating, trivia, laughter and pizza/wine party helped the day to move along quickly under the hot summer skies.
Ah, our clean, cozy beds welcomed us to rest and dream of magical sights we can only imagine. Sleep well, my friends. Tomorrow the adventure continues!

This is Lucy, our office dog. Ironically, this is the folder for the GIRLS' TRIP in 2027. Apparently, she decided to weigh in on the options.

Lucy heard that a winery, chocolate, time for shopping boutiques and a hilarious dinner show are all on the table for this trip. She will be sad to hear that she isn't allowed to go on this trip.

Once the details are finalized and the itinerary is ready, we will open it up for reservations.

More beautiful sunshine greeted us as we started our day. We drove to Dublin, Ohio, to pick up our local step-on guide. We became enamored with this town — so thoughtfully lovely! A concrete cornfield and a limestone Indian chief bust were just a glimpse into the public art Dublin has installed. We enjoyed lunch and shopping in historic downtown Dublin. The restaurant options were unique and delicious. We finished our time in Dublin with a demonstration of Irish dance. The Irish culture runs deep here!

One final stop before we headed home had us visiting Buckeye Brass and Winds, a niche business that specializes in the repair, restoration, and sale of brass and woodwind instruments — including those of The Ohio State Marching Band. It was fascinating watching them repair and clean these instruments. The icing on the cake was hearing music from the pipe organ, because their shop used to be a church!

Driving home from an overnight always happens too fast, but we’re bringing home amazing memories and new experiences! Love these Land Cruise travelers — so glad they are “Friends Forever.”
