Now THAT is a family fishing day.

Grandparents, parents, grandkids—and family visiting all the way from France and England. A few had never fished before, but that certainly didn’t last long.

A whole lot of fish, plenty of laughs, and one really great family to spend the day with.

We had so much fun hosting this family, and they had such a great time, we couldn’t NOT share a little more from their weekend with us.

Some weekends are about the fish. The best ones are about everything else, too.

It’s kids getting excited over every bite. Parents making memories. Lots of laughs, plenty of fish and evenings around the fire pit talking about the day’s adventures.

This crew spent two nights at our River House and one day fishing with us on the river and made the most of every minute.

And that’s one of our favorite things about hosting families: you don’t have to be a master angler to have an unforgettable time. Spend a day fishing with us, cast a line from the riverbank right outside the River House, or just slow down and enjoy being together by the John Day.

First-timers on the water and both anglers finished the day with 23 fish!

Fishing has slowed a bit with the wildfire conditions, but we're still finding steady action.

Every trip is a little different.

Some days the fish make you work for every bite. Other days they remind you why people travel from all over to fish the John Day.

Lately, it's been the second one.

The bass are healthy, they're feeding, and they're putting smiles on faces from the first cast to the last. Roger and Sandy experienced exactly that over two days on the river, highlighted by a beautiful 20-inch trophy smallmouth.
