A common question I get is how I’m paid if I don’t charge a fee—so I wanted to help clarify.
In most cases (about 90% of the time), I do not charge a planning or booking fee. I’m typically compensated through the travel suppliers I work with. However, there are certain situations where I may charge a small fee or require a deposit.
For example, if a trip requires extensive planning, multiple revisions, and a significant time investment, I may request a deposit upfront. Unfortunately, I’ve had instances where I’ve spent a great deal of time planning detailed vacations, only for clients to take that information and book on their own. To protect my time and business, that deposit ensures a level of commitment—and it is applied toward the cost of the vacation.
At the end of the day, my goal is to provide great service while also making sure my time and expertise are respected.
