Seems like it is a tick-year. Everyone is finding them and everyone is talking about them.

How are you dealing with them this year?

Here are some tips to keep them away, what to do if you find a tick on you, how to identify a tick bite, and more.

Drama in the outdoor world as Patagonia continues its fight with Pattie Gonia.

Seems pretty easy to me, Patagonia says "don't use our name" and Pattie just ignored them.

Who is in the wrong here?

You won't.

The Historic Columbia River Highway east of Multnomah Falls is back open — and if you've been waiting for your first Gorge run of the season, this weekend is the move.

ODOT had this stretch shut down for months of construction. Now it's open, snowmelt is peaking, and the waterfalls are running harder than they will all year. The timing is genuinely perfect.

Here's what's worth your time out there:
🔹 Latourell Falls — Fewer crowds than Multnomah, just as dramatic. Go here first.
🔹 Crown Point & Vista House — 360° views of the Gorge. Worth every step.
🔹 Women's Forum Overlook — Hit this one at sunset. You'll thank me later.
🔹 Shepperds Dell — Almost always empty. That's the whole pitch.

A few things before you head out:
✅ Multnomah Falls still requires a timed permit — book it before you go
✅ Weekend parking fills by 9am. Plan accordingly or you're parking a mile out and hiking in
✅ Layers. The Gorge does whatever it wants weatherwise, especially in spring

The Gorge in May is one of the best things the PNW does all year. If you've never done this drive, this is the weekend to fix that.
Where are you hiking this weekend? Drop it below 👇

Nervous to step off the trail and do you business when out on a hike? Afraid someone is going to see you?

Well, this just just had that happen, but 100 times worse.

Seriously the most traumatizing "stepped off trail" experience I've ever read and I'm soooo glad it wasn't me that had to post this.

The silence. The eye contact. The sound effects. This person needs a medal and a therapist.

We've all been there. Maybe not QUITE like this. But we've been there.
Drop your worst "wrong place, wrong time" trail moment in the comments. First names only. We protect our people here. 😂

As the "tall guy" I always get the honor of being at the front for some reason... 🫤

Cobwebs to the face are also a side-effect of liking the be the first one up a trail in the morning.

Driving through the Idaho Panhandle near Priest River — pine forests, mountain views, and zero traffic. This corner of the PNW doesn't get nearly enough attention.

Full Priest River guide coming soon. Follow 10ToesTravel for more PNW and Pacific Northwest road trips.

If you've never stopped at the Rhododendron Species Botanical Garden in Federal Way, now is literally the best time of year to go 🌸

Peak bloom is happening right now and the place is stunning. It's right off I-5 near SEA-TAC and most people have no idea it exists.

Drop a 📍 if you've been before!

Tired of your power station dying right when you need it most on a camping trip? Lights flickering, fridge warming up, phone at 2% while you're trying to relax in the woods?
You don't need fancy marketing hype. You just need something that actually works for real car camping and weekend getaways in the Pacific Northwest.

Here's the straight talk on Jackery versus Bluetti portable power stations and which one actually delivers for you:

Jackery keeps it stupid-simple. Plug in your gear, and it just works. Clear screen, easy-to-use ports, and the whole lineup makes sense without a manual. Perfect if you're new to this stuff or you want zero hassle at dusk after a long drive.
Bluetti gives you more power for your money. Faster solar recharging so your panels actually keep up on multi-day trips, better capacity per dollar, and models that handle cold, damp shoulder seasons without complaining.

Both run your fridge, lights, chargers, and CPAP for days without drama. Both use reliable LiFePO4 batteries. The difference shows up when you care about ease versus raw specs and value.

For most weekend warriors just car camping a couple nights, either one gets the job done. But picking the right one means you spend less time worrying about power and more time enjoying the fire and the quiet.

What's your biggest power headache when you're out camping? Dead batteries at the worst moment? Slow solar charging? Or still hauling around an old clunky setup? Drop your stories below — let's hear what you're dealing with.
