The timeline and history of this Mansion:
The mansion was built in 1848 by a riverboat captain, Henry C. Storms in a historic Greek Revival style. It was originally built with 12 rooms, had 12-foot ceilings and a fireplace in every room.
1854 Eden B. Thirkield in purchased the mansion
1958 The five, marble fireplaces were installed
They were from marble quarried in Pennsylvania. Note that some of these have metal portions.
1906 home was expanded and divided into two homes The northern side was the home of Lida Thirkield Parks southern side the home of Edward Thirkield (lida’s father ) When renovations were complete the mansion was 6,300 sq. ft.
The last Thirkield descendent to live in the home survives. She is Ann Simpson Beach
The mansion changed hands many times over the years
1968 dress shop, the We Two Shop
1972 dress shop closed Doug and Laura Lee Oldham resided in the home
1980s Tom and Marcia Gardner made it their home and a bed and breakfast
Today, it is the home of a beautiful collection of art from Chris and Ramesh Malhotra.
