At Nelson Rocks, the trail doesn’t just wind through the mountains—it takes you straight up them.

The Nrocks Via Ferrata combines hiking and climbing along a route equipped with fixed cables, steel rungs, and other climbing aids. Clip in and make your way across exposed rock faces high above the valley, with some seriously wild Pendleton County views along the way. ⛰️

“Via ferrata” translates to “iron way,” and this one offers a whole different way to experience the mountains of West Virginia.

The question is… are you looking down or absolutely NOT looking down? 😂👇

Green Bank Observatory isn’t quite as iconic as Seneca Rocks - but it sure does get mentioned quite a bit around here. Come down to the Pendleton County Library this Thursday, where one of our most recognizable neighbors is the star of the show.

🎬 FREE MOVIE NIGHT at Pendleton County Library! 🍿

Join us Thursday, August 27, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room for a special screening of Small Town Universe.

Admission, popcorn, and drinks are FREE!

SMALL TOWN UNIVERSE explores life in Green Bank, West Virginia - a remote community located inside the National Radio Quiet Zone. Here, the use of wireless technologies such as cell phones and Wi-Fi is heavily restricted to prevent interference with the nearby Green Bank Telescope, the world's largest fully-steerable radio telescope.

The film follows four unique residents whose lives are intertwined with the town and its namesake telescope: a young woman dreaming of a career in astrophysics, a retired engineer reflecting on his legacy, a longtime local rooted in Green Bank's history, and a newcomer embracing life off-the-grid.

As federal funding hangs in the balance, their futures are inextricably tied to the survival of this scientific marvel and the Quiet Zone that makes it all possible.
