Our first stop in Norway was Stavanger. It is the third largest city in Norway and it was established in 1125. The Old Town area has homes from the 17th century. It was another beautiful, sunny day but much cooler here.

Happy Summer Solstice! Sunset tonight from the North Sea at 10:40 p.m. Sunrise is at 4:24 a.m. and they said it won’t ever get completely dark tonight.

The view from our window. We had been told to expect rough seas but look how calm it is! We are in the middle of the North Sea right now, our first stop in Norway is tomorrow.

Unpacking completely for the first time in 13 days. We’ve been on the move after a few days since we arrived in Ireland. It feels great to move in to our room. Are you an unpacker or do you live out of your suitcase on vacation?

Our room in Southampton where we stayed last night. You should always plan to arrive in your departure location at least the day before you cruise. This is the Ibis Hotel Southampton. It is located across the street from the cruise port. It was a very small room, but it was clean and it is close to lots of restaurants and the city center. There was no air conditioning but the windows opened and they provided a fan so our room stayed comfortable. It wasn’t fancy but it was fine for one night.
