Did you take Chris Haugh's "Frederick History 101" course yet? If so, then you are ready for higher learning with "Frederick History 202." This includes a deeper dive into topics such as the history of early Frederick architecture, Court House Square, notable Frederick citizens, entertainment venues and Frederick's Renaissance of the late 20th century. PowerPoint lecture, video segments and very special guests will be on hand to share their knowledge and experiences (scheduled: Dean Fitzgerald, Tee Michel, Jody Brumage and former mayor/senator Ron Young). This course features two parts held on Friday, Nov. 13th (Part 1- 1700s/1800s) and Friday, Nov. 20th (Part 2- 1900s to present). This is presented by Frederick Community College's Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR) Program. Learn more about the Patriots of '76 and Frederick County's role in the Revolutionary War! "Frederick & the American Revolution" will be my last HSP course of 2026, the 250th anniversary year of the legendary conflict that created a new nation. Two ways to take this course, either in-person or online (or both). An online version will be offered via Zoom on Monday nights from 7-9pm beginning November 2nd. The in-person verson will take place Tuesdays from 12-noon-2pm and participants are invited to bring a lunch as this class will be held in the Key Chapel of Mount Olivet Cemetery. Students of either class will be allowed to attend either session or both each week (esp. helpful if you have a scheduling conflict one week or another).
