Almost Blue Mountain City: The Story of Thurmont, MD is the newest history course offering from Chris Haugh and History Shark Productions. It begins October 6th on three consecutive Tuesday evenings from 6-8pm. The 3-part class will be held at the Thurmont Grange Hall #409 located at 17 N. Two things you won't see displayed at the Great Frederick Fair are large rock bolulders and dinosaurs! In the same regard, a "Prehistory of Frederick" course should be devoid of talk regarding sheep shearing, funnel cake, and the "Hoochie Coochie Girls";) You can achieve a knowledge of both local subjects in my upcoming classes on both subjects: History of the Great Frederick Fair (starts Wed, Aug 26, 6-8pm) and the Prehistory of Frederick, MD (starts Mon, Aug 17, 1-3pm). HSP walking tour of Mount Olivet with Chris Haugh is coming up on Saturday morning, July 11th (9-11am) and will feature notable individuals of the 1900s-Present. We will visit several gravesites including those of a world-renowned fashion designer, the "Used Car King of Maryland," a member of the "National Radio Hall of Fame," Maryland's Prettiest Girl of 1915 and the guy who gave us the Barbara Fritchie Candystick Restaurant of yesteryear. $20/person and walk-ups welcome as we will meet beforehand at the World War 1 Memorial Gazebo in Area T,U, S in middle of cemetery within sight of Harry Grove Stadium.
