“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.” – Lao Tzu

The clouds tried it. We didn’t flinch. 🌩️

Listen — nobody plans for rain at an outdoor festival. But here’s what I know after years of curating experiences for people: the transformation doesn’t care about the forecast.

Dream Asia Festival showed up with culture, flavor, community, and yes… a surprise shower. And you know what? It just added to the story. Because THAT’S what travel does. It doesn’t promise perfect conditions. It promises to change you in ways you weren’t expecting.

Those Tanghulu skewers? Still hit. The energy? Still unmatched. The memory? Locked in forever. 🍡🍓🌏 Rain can’t wash off a good time. And it definitely can’t wash off a good transformation. ✨

If you’ve been waiting for the “perfect” moment to book your next experience — this is your sign. The magic is IN the journey. Every single part of it.

Today in travel news: Southwest Airlines and Singapore Airlines are now official partners! 🎉✈️

Travelers can now connect between Southwest’s domestic U.S. network and Singapore Airlines’ international routes through three West Coast gateways — LAX, SFO, and SEA — opening the door to Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and beyond.

This one is personal for me — Singapore Airlines is my absolute favorite airline, full stop. The service, the experience, the attention to detail? Unmatched. And now more travelers have a pathway to experience it. 🙌🏽

And between you and me… Crimson Skye has already been to Tokyo and she is NOT done with Asia. 🐘✨

If this has you dreaming about Japan, this is your sign. 2027 is coming and spots are going fast. At Global Gifts Travel, we specialize in turning “someday” into a boarding pass. 💙

🇯🇵✨ Tokyo’s Best Kept Secret — And an American Stranger Told Me About It!

While visiting teamLab Planets, I had to sit down because my sciatica was talking to me after all that walking. An American woman spotted me and said, “Girl, you need to find those patches — the box looks like a dollar bill with an old man on it.”

No name. No English. Just that description. 👀

I found them. Roihi-Tsuboko — a Japanese medicated pain patch that’s been around since 1932. Not a lick of English on the packaging, but a picture, a translation, and the description told me everything I needed to know.

The Japanese have sworn by these for decades for stiff muscles, joint pain, and sciatica — and honey, I am NOW a believer! 🙌🏾

Grabbed two boxes and zero regrets. Sometimes the best travel discoveries come from a stranger, a little pain, and a whole lot of faith! 😂❤️

💬 Someone recently asked me — “Is it easy to find medical and health needs in Tokyo?”

Absolutely. You asked about medication — Tokyo’s pharmacies (called drugstores) are everywhere, well-stocked, and easy to navigate even without speaking Japanese. The staff are incredibly helpful, products are clearly displayed, and prices are very reasonable. Your travel needs are covered! 🏥

🛍️ If you’re ever in Tokyo — find these patches. Your body will thank you.

Your Travel Curator has you covered — before, during, AND after the trip! ✈️💙

✈️ TRAVEL ALERT | Portugal — This is NOT a Drill

If you have a flight to, from, or through Portugal TOMORROW, June 3rd, 🛑 stop scrolling and read this right now.

Portugal just called a nationwide general strike and it is hitting EVERYTHING at once:

🚫 500+ flights expected to be canceled
✈️ TAP Air Portugal alone cutting up to 300 flights
🚇 Lisbon Metro, buses, trams & ferries SHUT DOWN
🏖️ Every major airport impacted — Lisbon, Porto, Faro, and more

This isn’t a minor inconvenience. This is the biggest travel disruption Portugal has seen since 2024, happening at the start of peak summer travel season.

If you’re booked for June 3rd — do this NOW:

🔴 Check your flight status immediately
🔴 Do NOT rely on public transit to get to the airport — arrange private transportation
🔴 Contact your airline about rebooking or rerouting
🔴 Pull out your travel protection documents and know your coverage

If you don’t have travel protection? Let this be the last time that’s true.

One strike. One day. 500 canceled flights. This is why we never skip it.

🇺🇸 For the most current, official travel information on Portugal, always check the U.S. State Department:

🇻🇳✈️ Attention travelers with Vietnam on your bucket list!

Starting July 1, 2026, Vietnam is requiring ALL international travelers — inbound, outbound, and transit — to complete a mandatory health declaration before crossing the border.

Here’s what you need to know:

📋 Forms can be completed online or on paper (in English AND Vietnamese)
⏰ Must be submitted within 7 days before your trip
💉 Proof of vaccination may be required depending on the global health situation
🌡️ Health quarantine officers will conduct temperature screenings at border gates

This is a permanent framework under Vietnam’s new Law on Disease Prevention — not a temporary COVID-era rule. The Ministry of Health activates declaration requirements based on global disease developments.

Planning a Vietnam trip? Your girl has you covered. 👇
Global Gifts Travel makes sure you’re prepared BEFORE you land — not surprised when you get there.

🚨 ATTENTION TRAVEL ADVISORS | Maryland Seller of Travel Registration Law

If you sell travel to Maryland residents — even if your business is based outside of Maryland — this applies to YOU.

Governor Wes Moore signed the “Don’t You Worry (Wurie) Act” into law on May 26, 2026. It takes effect October 1, 2026, and here’s what you need to know:

📋 What’s Required:

✅ Register as a seller of travel with the state of Maryland
✅ Pay an annual $300 registration fee
✅ Provide proof of E&O (Errors & Omissions) insurance with a minimum of $1 million in liability coverage
✅ If you have independent agents affiliated with your agency, they may need to register too

📌 Who This Affects:

This law applies to any travel seller who operates in Maryland OR sells travel to Maryland residents. Location of your business does not exempt you.

⏰ You have until October 1, 2026 to comply.

This law was born out of tragedy — a Maryland couple lost their lives during a Hajj pilgrimage after booking with an unlicensed tour operator. The Wurie family’s loss is now protecting travelers and holding our industry accountable.

ASTA is actively seeking clarity on several provisions, so stay connected with your professional associations for updates as we get closer to the effective date.

Don’t wait. Get registered. Protect your business. Protect your clients.

ASAKUSA..HANDS DOWN!!!

You do not have to spend a fortune to stay somewhere great.

Historic. Walkable. Affordable. You are steps from temples, street food, and the subway that takes you everywhere else.

Skip the luxury district. Stay where the culture is.

DO THIS FIRST!!!
👇🏾👇🏾👇🏾

Yen ordered from your bank two weeks before you depart! Your bank needs time. Tap to pay everywhere else.

Order your Yen early. Don’t wait until the airport — the exchange rates will hurt you.

But if time is not on your side — both Narita and Haneda airports have currency exchange right when you land. Not ideal but it works.

Either way, arrive with Yen in your hand. Not dollars.

💬 Save this before you book your flights.

Let me tell you what I learned real fast — if the restaurant has a big sign in English and a photo menu out front, keep walking.

The real Tokyo is behind a curtain. Down a side street. In Nakameguro where we stumbled into a spot with 8 seats, no English menu, and a vibe that changed my life.

That is where the locals eat. No reservations. No tourist traps. Just real food made by real people who have been doing it for decades.

You will not find it on Google. But I know where it is. 👀

Comment TOKYO if you want the inside list.
