🐋Full Whale Watching Report 🐋
Thank you, Dana, for the beautiful pictures!
Captain Pete reports:
On Memorial Day, May 25, 2026, we spent the day exploring the beautiful waters and marshes of Long Island on another unforgettable Long Island Whale and Seal Watching adventure.
As we traveled through the marsh during low tide, there was noticeably less wildlife activity than usual, as recent weather systems had just moved out of the area. Even so, the peaceful scenery and calm waters made for a beautiful start to the trip.
Once we made our way into the Atlantic Ocean, we searched far and wide — and nature rewarded us in an incredible way. We were greeted by multiple small pods of bottlenose dolphins, totaling around 50 individuals! Watching these playful and energetic dolphins swimming through the ocean alongside us was truly an unforgettable sight.
As we headed back toward the dock, the marsh had come alive with activity. Ospreys were seen perched in their nests keeping watch over the waterways, while common terns put on an impressive feeding display, diving from high above the water’s surface to catch their next meal. Double-crested cormorants were also spotted swimming in the water, and some were seen drying their wings on the docks of the bay houses, along with several species of gulls flying throughout the marsh.
Every trip brings something different, and this Memorial Day reminded us just how special and ever-changing Long Island’s marine ecosystem truly is. Check out our trip calendar and book your tickets for your own Long Island Whale and Seal Watching adventure!
