Step into the wild edge of San Juan Island 🌊🐋

Our new “Island’s and Echo’s” tour blends rugged coastal views with powerful stories—where wind, wildlife, and history collide.

Walk prairie trails shaped by glacial forces and stand where the “Pig War” nearly changed borders. Watch for eagles, foxes, and marine life along the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Cattle Pass.

This is where natural history meets human history—raw, windswept, and unforgettable.

Join us on short, leisurely, and informative walks to learn about scenic southern San Juan Island!

Meet San Juan Island’s Red fox! These adaptable predators are often spotted at dawn and dusk quietly stalking prey through open fields and coastal bluffs.

But here’s something many visitors don’t know - red foxes aren’t native to San Juan Island. They were introduced in the early 1900s to help control an exploding European rabbit 🐇 population and have since become part of the island’s unique ecosystem.

Want your best chance to see one in the wild? Your odds go way up on these scenic routes:

• Mount Finlayson
• American Camp
• The Salish Coast
• Cattle Point

These areas offer the perfect mix of prairie, forest edge, and shoreline - prime fox habitat

Join one of our tours for an opportunity to see a red fox in its island habitat.

Hi there, I’m Jason Tracer 👋🏼 founder and guide at Trace Your Trail, offering small group hiking and sightseeing tours in Washington State.

I grew up in beautiful 📍Port Townsend, Washington and was always amazed by the Salish Sea - its changing tides, endless views, and moments of quiet reflection that sparked my lifelong love of nature and exploration.

My path has taken me around the world as an independent traveler, guiding sea kayaking and hiking tours in Alaska, and managing off-grid wilderness lodges where guests could connect deeply with wild places.

I started Trace Your Trail to help people experience the wellness and stress relief benefits of spending time in nature - clearer minds, better moods, stronger bodies - and to offer meaningful connections with nature and each other.

Every hike is an opportunity to learn about the land, its stories, and the peoples that have cared for it for generations. An opportunity to enhance your spirit.

Exploring 📍San Juan island is discovering something new about place, and about yourself.

Come walk with me - let’s trace your trail together. 🥾
