We've had the pleasure of working with these guys throughout our Warren County VA250 celebrations this year, and they've been an AMAZING community partner!

Now they're joining the fun at the 54th Annual Festival of Leaves this Saturday in Historic Front Royal!

We LOVE seeing our community partners getting involved, supporting local events and helping make Warren County a great place to live AND visit!

The folks behind all of this year’s events have done an AMAZING job—and we have ONE MORE to go!

If you’re looking for a reason to come out and Experience Warren County, tomorrow is a pretty great day to do it.

Liberty Day...the ULTIMATE Fall Festival has all the trimmings: amazing music, activities for everyone, local vendors, food trucks, hayrides, axe throwing, the Boy Scouts with a BB range, and a CANNON. Because apparently every good fall festival needs a cannon.

We’ve got all the makings of a great fall festival, with a little living history mixed in — plenty of fun stuff for the kids, great music from Shen Rio, Bearded Harmony and the American Legion Community Band, plus a special performance by Jig 'n' Jive Dance Studio.

Throw in a few vendors, some food trucks, a pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving AND pumpkin chunking… and yep, you’ve got yourself a Fall Festival!

Skyline Drive is in our backyard, and we’re gearing up for one of our FAVORITE seasons… FALL! 🍂

And while you’re here… Historic Front Royal makes a pretty great first stop.

When Shenandoah opened to the public in 1936, it was the second National Park east of the Mississippi (second only to Acadia National Park).

It also—unusually for the NPS at this time—reflected the rise of automobile tourism. The Skyline Drive served as our headlining feature. A combination of novelty, proximity, and ease of use made Shenandoah extremely popular. On September 29, 1937, 89 years ago today, Shenandoah became the first park in NPS history to welcome more than one million visitors. The park had opened just over a year earlier. Every weekend, crowds from nearby cities flooded into the park and overwhelmed the sometimes-incomplete infrastructure. In the early years, visitors often competed for parking spaces at many overlooks! Unlike the famous western parks, Shenandoah stood close to home for many people. Visitors could explore it in a weekend rather than a week. Today, Shenandoah receives more than 1.5 million visits per year—nowhere near the NPS visitation leaders—but we remain proud of our place in park service history.
