Alaskan Adventure Part 2: Inland Alaska
The inland portion of our Alaska trip was by far my favorite portion of the entire trip, the scenery was absolutely breathtaking, the wildlife viewing was phenomenal and we stayed in amazing lodges.
Stop 1: Fairbanks
After landing in Fairbanks we spent the night before taking a river cruise on the Riverboat Discovery, where we got to see a floatplane demonstration, how dog sledders practice without snow and explore the Chena Indian Village. After our tour was complete we loaded onto our bus to head to our next stop.
Stop 2: Denali
The day we arrived to Denali Princess Lodge, which had 360 Mountain View’s, we took a photographic tour with Denali Photo Guides where we got to see some of the most beautiful scenery & had our first moose and eagle sightings!!
The next day we embarked on a Tundra Tour into Denali National Park, to mile marker 43, where we saw more beautiful scenery, including Mt. McKinley (the tallest mountain in North America) for the first time, and a variety of wildlife including bears, reindeer, moose, dall sheep and the cutest little Arctic Ground Squirrel.
Stop 3: Mt. McKinley
After taking a bus ride the next morning we arrived to Mt. McKinley Wilderness Lodge, which has the most stunning views of Mt. McKinley, where we had a relaxing day & stayed up to see our first Alaskan sunset, seeing our very first glimpse of the mountain at this location.
The next morning we got a stunning view of the mountain, seeing everything but the peak, before heading to the cute little town of Talkeetna. On our final morning, before heading to Whittier to board the cruise ship, Mt. McKinley came out in all her glory giving us the most incredible view.
Stay tuned every Thursday morning at 10:00AM EST throughout the month of October for the next part of our Alaskan Adventure!!
