FRUITA, CO — The City of Fruita has made the decision to postpone its scheduled July 2nd 150/250 drone show celebration in light of the ongoing Snyder Fire and the impact it continues to have on our community and the surrounding valley. There will still be our regular Thursday Night Concert, featuring Hazel Miller. The Fruita City Council will also be distributing ice cream at the concert.

With active wildfire conditions in the area and the cancellation of other regional Fourth of July events, the City feels it is the right decision to avoid drawing a large influx of visitors into Fruita at this time. Our priority is to support fire response efforts, conserve local resources, and show respect for the seriousness of the situation.

The City is asking that residents celebrate responsibly this Fourth of July, and abide by Stage Two Fire Restrictions and avoid the use of fireworks to minimize placing additional strain on first responders and local resources. More information on Stage Two Fire Restrictions can be found at Mesa County’s website. https://www.mesacounty.us/departments-and-services/sheriff/divisions/emergency-services/fire-restrictions

The drone show will be rescheduled for Saturday, August 1st, coinciding with Colorado Day. This date holds special significance in 2026, marking the 150th anniversary of Colorado’s statehood alongside the nation's 250th anniversary. The City looks forward to celebrating both milestones with the community later this summer. More information on the event will be released in the coming weeks.

In place of the fireworks display, the City of Fruita will direct a portion of the funds originally budgeted for the event to the Wildland Firefighter Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting wildland firefighters and their families. https://wffoundation.org/

The City extends its deepest gratitude and sympathies to the three firefighters and their families who have made the greatest sacrifice to protect our community, and to all firefighters currently working to protect this incredible place we call home.

We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Independence Day.
