Town of Funkstown
EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2025, THE FOLLOWING CHANGES WILL OCCUR TO TRASH COLLECTION SERVICE.
J&J will deliver all initial containers free of charge. They will remain J&J’s property and will be collected if the town switches providers.
- Each unit provided with one (1) 95-gallon J&J toter
- Smaller 65-gallon toters are available by request if the can is too large for some residents
- All trash must be inside the provided container/toter style containers. No trash on the ground or in non-toter style cans will be collected.
- Residents may use their own toter style cans for extra trash that doesn’t fit inside the provided container OR rent a 2nd J&J toter for $5/month – To be set up individually by the resident. ($20 delivery fee)
- We are not responsible for damage that occurs to personal cans
- We are responsible for replacing wheels and lids that potentially become damaged on the J&J container at no cost.
- If a resident looses or destroys a can with negligence, there is a replacement and delivery fee to bring a new one out. ($75 to be paid by the resident or town – TBD)
- All provided J&J cans have a serial number, and will be assigned to each unit in the town for tracking purposes.
- Trash collection days will remain the same
- Residents can continue to place their provided container out where they normally do for collection.
- An automated arm truck will collect trash from the town under this collection process. The truck only has 1 crew-member (Driver)
- This process allows us to be more efficient and increase safety for our team members.
WEDNESDAY TRASH COLLECTION PICKUP
The only thing that will change is the holiday schedule for the trash collection. It will revert back to the standard slide day if a holiday falls on or before the Wednesday trash collection due to how the routes are aligned with the automated arm trucks.
YARD WASTE SERVICE
- Yard Waste must be in brown recycled bags or empty trash cans. It cannot be mixed with household waste.
WEDNESDAY YARD WASTE COLLECTION PICKUP
Yard Waste Collection will be picked up on Wednesday even if Trash Collection is delayed due to a holiday.
