👻 WHO HAS THE BEST GHOST TOUR IN NORTH CAROLINA—AND DID ANYTHING HAPPEN THAT YOU STILL CAN’T EXPLAIN?
I love a good ghost tour, especially when it makes me see familiar places completely differently.
Last year, US Ghosts Adventures had invited me to experience their Rust, Rebels & Ruins walking tour through downtown Raleigh. One of the stops was Death & Taxes—an award-winning restaurant inside a building that opened in 1907 as a coffin shop and later became an undertaking and mortuary company.
People have reported unexplained voices, footsteps and encounters there.
One story involves a young girl who reportedly had an entire conversation with a man—only to discover that no one else could see him. 😳
Now imagine hearing that story and then walking into the same building for dinner.
That is what I love about ghost tours. You get the creepy stories, but you also discover the history hiding inside restaurants, shops and buildings you might otherwise walk right past and won't find in history books.
Now I’m looking for my next North Carolina ghost tour.
Southport is high on my list because there is so much history there.
Wilmington would be fascinating too. But I’m open to being convinced that another town does it even better.
Tell me the town AND the tour company that deserves the top spot. Bonus points if you have a story that still gives you chills.
I have a feeling these comments are about to become the ultimate North Carolina ghost-tour list for Halloween. 👻
